Hazel and her band perform original, Jazz, Blues, R&B and Physically active women and men Top 40 music. needed for a research study on PTH and Calcium Responses to Exercise in Older Adults Experiment 2 (PACE Sr. 2) To participate, you must be… • A 60-80-year-old woman in generally good health • Typically exercise at a moderate to vigorous intensity at least 2 days per week • Used to walking for an hour at a time • Currently taking a bisphosphonate medication • No diagnosis of heart, kidney or liver disease, diabetes, uncontrolled hypertension, or uncontrolled thyroid disease. Eligible volunteers will receive at no cost • Information on their VO2 max (cardiovascular fitness) • Information on their body composition and bone density • Physical exam and basic blood chemistries We want to know if… Stopping the decrease in blood calcium during exercise impacts markers of calcium loss from the bone Study Outline: Screening tests include a physical exam, bone density scan, treadmill exercise test, and blood tests. Those who qualify will get a pre-exercise meal and walk on a treadmill for 1 hour at our exercise facility on two different days.
