NTUC CARE FUND (E-VOUCHERS) 2020 Frequently Asked Questions 1. About the Programme 1.1 The NTUC-U Care Fund will be launching a new assistance programme, NTUC Care Fund (e-Vouchers). This programme aims to help our low-income union members with the cost of basic necessities and their children's school expenses for the new school year. 1.2 The two assistance voucher programmes, U Stretch and U Care Back to School Voucher programmes will be discontinued. 1.3 Eligible members will now receive digital vouchers for use on either daily necessities and/or school-going necessities for the new school year 1.4 The NTUC Care Fund (e-Vouchers) are valid till 30 April 2021. Strictly no extension will be granted after the voucher expiry date. 2. Who is eligible? 2.1 Members must have a minimum of 6 months continuous paid-up union membership as of August 2020 and must not be in arrears. 2.2 For Members with Dependents Staying in Same Household in Singapore: • Total Monthly Gross Household Income1 of $3,400 and below, OR • Per Capita Income of $850 and below if Gross Household Income+ exceeds $3,400 2.3 For Members with No Dependents Staying in Same Household in Singapore: • Monthly Gross Personal Income1 of $1,500 and below 1Gross income is defined as all income derived from employment/business, inclusive of overtime and allowances. 2020 NTUC Care Fund (e-Vouchers) FAQ - English updated on 29 JulyNTUC Care Fund (e-Vouchers) 2020 Page 1 of 4 NTUC CARE FUND (E-VOUCHERS) 2020 3. If you have History for the past 3 employment income, this must be months reflected as a separate line item. 4.2 If applying for eligible school-going child: Photocopy of Member’s Child/Children’s Birth Certificates For foreign birth certificate(s), please also submit Certificate of Singapore Citizenship / Re-entry Permit AND Student Pass. How to Apply? 5.1 The application period opens from 1 to 31 August 2020. 5.2 Auto-Qualified Applicants • Successful recipients of 2019 U Stretch/Back to School voucher programmes, who are still in active membership and not in arrears, NEED NOT SUBMIT their applications for this year. The NTUC Care Fund (e-Vouchers) will be auto disbursed to eligible members via SMS to their registered mobile number with NTUC. Refer to S/N 10 on how to update your mobile number. [Please note that auto disbursement is only applicable for this exceptional year.] • Pre-approved members who have children entering the eligible school-going criteria this year (eg. child going to Kindergarten 1 in 2021) will need to submit your appeal with your respective unions/associations (Ordinary Branch members) or membership department (General Branch members) during this period. 5.3 New Applicants • Union members who meet the eligibility criteria may submit their applications via the U Care System at www.ntuc.org.sg/ucare/apply. Refer to Step-by-step guide on how to apply via mobile devices or Online Video Demo to apply via computers. Note: Members are advised to submit their applications before the closing date as late submission will not be processed. 6. How will I be notified on the outcome of my application? 6.1 Auto-qualified Applicants will be informed of their status by end July and will receive an SMS containing the e-Vouchers by end August. 6.2 New applications will receive their e-vouchers by SMS (mobile number that are registered in U Portal) by end October if they are successful. 6.3 Auto-qualified members who had appealed for additional school-going children will receive their e-vouchers by SMS (mobile number that are registered in U Portal) by mid November if they are successful. 2020 NTUC Care Fund (e-Vouchers) FAQ - English updated on 29 JulyNTUC Care Fund (e-Vouchers) 2020 Page 3 of 4 NTUC CARE FUND (E-VOUCHERS) 2020 7. When will I be able to receive the e-Vouchers? 7.1 Auto-Qualifying Applicants : • End July 2020: Members will receive an SMS informing them on their auto- qualification for the 2020 NTUC Care Fund (e-Vouchers). • End August 2020: Members will receive an SMS for their vouchers. • Mid November 2020: Members who had appealed for additional school-going children will receive an SMS for their appeal successful vouchers. 7.2 New Applicants : • End October 2020: Members will receive their e-vouchers by SMS if they are successful. 7.3 SMS will contain the URL to open the e-voucher and a 4-digit pin code. Both will be required to redeem the e-vouchers. *Note: It is important that mobile numbers are updated, to receive e-vouchers. Refer to S/n 10 on how to update mobile number. 8. How to Redeem the e-Vouchers? 8.1 Step 1: Have a ready internet connection. Step 2: Click on the URL sent via SMS. It will launch a website to open the e-voucher and the page to key in the 4-digit pin code will appear. Step 3: Key in the 4-digit pin code which was sent in the same SMS. Step 4: e-voucher bearing the barcode will be launched. Please present the voucher to participating merchants to scan and make purchase. Where to Redeem the e-Vouchers? 9.1 The vouchers are valid for purchase of basic necessities, dental services, school textbooks, assessment/reference books, stationery, school uniforms / PE attire / shoes / socks or other school-related items at the following redemption points: • Any FairPrice, FairPrice Finest, FairPrice Xtra, Unity and Warehouse Club stores (except for Unity at Changi Airport Terminal 3) • All NTUC Denticare branches • Participating authorised school bookshops and uniform suppliers (refer to Appendix B) at - Government / Government-Aided Schools (Primary and Secondary) - Junior Colleges - Millennia Institute - Institute of Technical Education - Polytechnics - Special Education Schools • All BATA physical stores* or Chat&Shop via WhatsApp *Members must present their NTUC union membership card at point of redemption to earn LinkPoints. This is subject to change and prevailing terms and conditions. 10. How to Update Mobile Number? Step 1: Log in to NTUC U Portal at www.ntuc.org.sg Step 2: Click on e-Services Step 3: Click on PDPA – Update Particulars Step 4: Select your preferred mode of update: Either manually, or via MyInfo Step 5: Update your mobile number under Contact Information, and click Confirm 11. Other Terms and Conditions 11.1 Appropriate action may be taken against members who are found to have falsely declared information, including but not limited to return of vouchers and/or full refund of the value of vouchers and the denial of future assistance. 11.2 The NTUC Care Fund (e-Vouchers) are strictly not for sale. Union member will be denied usage of U Care Fund programmes if found to have misused the vouchers. 11.3 The NTUC Care Fund (e-Vouchers) cannot be exchanged for cash.
