Colors: Crimson (PMS 7427) and Black Bennett has had quite a successful fi rst three years on the Ellensburg Nickname: Wildcats campus, winning 30 of his fi rst 36 games (with fi ve of the six losses by a Mascot: Wellington the Wildcat margin of seven points or fewer). He has led Central Washington to three National Affi liation: NCAA Division II (1999-) Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships in as many seasons Conference: and two NCAA Division II playoff berths, helping the Wildcats win 21 of their fi rst 22 Great Northwest Athletic Conference (2001-05, 2008-) conference games under Bennett’s guidance including the only 8-0 record in conference President: Dr. James L. Gaudino history in 2008. Central has also had a combined 29 fi rst-team all-conference selections (Air Force, 1972) over three seasons, including 13 fi rst-team picks in 2009 as the Wildcats ascended to the Director of Athletics: Jack Bishop number one ranking in NCAA Division II for the fi rst time in the program’s history. Bennett, (Southern Utah, 1970) who was named GNAC Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2009, also mentored quarterback Faculty Athletics Representative: Dr. Ethan A. Bergman Mike Reilly to a runner-up fi nish in the Harlon Hill Trophy balloting in 2008 as the top (Eastern Oregon, 1974) Assistant A.D. for Media Relations: Jonathan Gordon Division II football player in the country. He spent six seasons as the head coach at Western Oregon University Grad. Assistant (Cornerbacks): Damaro Wheeler in Monmouth, Oregon, compiling a 27-32 record as the Wolves’ mentor from 1995-2000. Following his coaching stint at WOU, which had also included three seasons as an assistant coach, Bennett spent six years at the NCAA Division I level as an assistant coach. He was the quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator under Joe Tiller at Purdue TEAM INFORMATION University from 2001-05 before becoming the assistant head coach at Michigan State University under John L. Smith in 2006. While at Purdue, he coached current Denver First Year of Football: 1901 Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton.     DEVELOPMENT, EVOLUTION, AND BARGAINING IN THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE Thomas Sisco The National Football League [hereinafter: NFL] is the most popular professional sports organization in the United States, but even with the current popularity and status of the NFL, ratings and the public perception of the on-field product have been on steady decline.1 Many believe this is a byproduct of the NFL being the only one of the 4 major professional sports leagues in the country without a self-controlled system for player development. Major League Baseball [hereinafter: MLB] has a prominent and successful minor league baseball system, the National Hockey League has the American Hockey League and East Coast Hockey League, the National Basketball Association [hereinafter: NBA] has the 22 team development league widely known as “The D- League”, but the NFL relies on the National Collegiate Athletic Association [hereinafter: NCAA] to develop young players for a career in their league. Volume 16 Issue 2 Handing Over Your Life Jon Kitna The Best Investment You Will Ever Make IMPACT NWC 2014 by Terry Meyer Some time ago our elderly neighbor passed away, and as is often the case, the possessions she and her husband accumulated over the years were sold in an estate sale. I went over to see what “morsel” I might find, only to leave shortly after arriving, convicted that I cared more for the former occupants’ possessions than I did for the former occupants themselves. I say with shame that I never visited the home even when I noticed frequent ambulance visits in the months leading up to her passing. I valued mere trifles when God had prepared eternal riches. As a Christian, I want to have an eternal impact. Jesus, wanting Jon Kitna, best known to most of a full life for His children, you as the former quarterback of encourages us to live lives of the Seattle Seahawks, will be the Kingdom worth.
