Mission Possible Winner for NCCAA

In 2007 and 2008, the NCCAA attempted to develop a western version of their successful March Pro-Am. The intent was to attract new donors as well as grow the NCCAA brand within the Western United States. The event proved to be great for those who attended but did not produce the net proceeds desired and the Board took action to end the effort after the 2008 event.

However, during the 2008 event, a group of donors from Greenville, SC began to brainstorm about how they could create a great event on behalf of the NCCAA without having to travel across country. Thus, Mike Pereyo of oobe apparel, Darin MacDonald of the Nationwide Tour’s BMW Charity Pro-Am, along with Jon Claudepierre and John Galliard of ScanSource, became the first members of the NCCAA Mission Possible Classic organizing committee which also included Tom Hancock, Brian Todd, Grover Todd and Steve Wolverton.

Months of planning led to a great day on October 5th as 96 golfers, most of them being introduced to the NCCAA for the very first time, enjoyed a serene fall day at Bright’s Creek Club in the North Carolina mountains. Volunteers from Southern Wesleyan University Women’s Volleyball program assisted in making sure each guest learned more about the NCCAA and received numerous words of appreciation. Regardless of their team’s score, each participant also enjoyed a breakfast buffet, lunch from Chick-fil-A, a $100 gift certificate to Bright’s Creek Club, and an outstanding Awards Reception.

The inaugural Mission Possible Classic Cup went to the team of Wheeler Anderson, Tom Harding, Dan Wood, and Pete Wood, who won a card playoff over the team of Brad Alexander, Darin MacDonald, Brad Skelton, and Julio Samayoa after both teams fired a two low net total of 123. Capping the day’s awards were drawings for a complimentary couple’s entry ($2,975 value) into the 2010 NCCAA Pro-Am, which was won by Tobin Wolverton, and a complimentary entry ($7,500 value) into the 2010 Nationwide Tour’s BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by Synnex, which was won by Tom Harding.

The big winner was the NCCAA as over $21,000 was raised and many new friendships for the association were developed. The 2nd Annual NCCAA Mission Possible Classic is already scheduled for Monday, October 4, 2010 again at Bright’s Creek Club. The tournament’s committee is already working on improvements for this event and brochures will be sent out in the summer of 2010.

Game Plan 4 LIFE Meeting Needs

In a culture where character education is being promoted far and wide, most training models are falling short of addressing the very foundation of where character should be based. The NCCAA saw a real need to get to the core of the matter and is offering the Game Plan 4 LIFE (GP4L) based on four primary Biblical character traits to guide us through every decision we make in life. LIFE is based on these traits: Love, Integrity, Faith and Excellence. This program has been developed with one goal in mind: to present and promote character that is consistent with Christ’s example. Dan Wood, NCCAA Executive Director, is presenting the GP4L Biblical character program in seminars, chapels, and worship services. One student-athlete said following a chapel service, “I am getting married and want to include these traits in my marriage. Thank you for reminding me of their importance.” Logoed key tags are being given to those attending the seminars as a reminder of their commitment to these core Biblical traits. One student-athlete wears his around his neck, “It helps me remember each trait so I can make them part of my life.” The GP4L program was presented to the entire Southern Wesleyan University athletic department in addition to several other member institutions. Following the presentation, SWU then sent every student-athlete into the community to portray and ingrain the character traits learned. If you, your church or civic group are interested in booking a Game Plan 4 LIFE seminar or chapel, please contact Dan Wood at [email protected]. May 13-16, 2010 Thornblade Club, Carolina Country Club, and Bright’s Creek Golf Club

Official notification has been received that the NCCAA was selected as one of the beneficiaries of the 2010 BMW Charity Pro- Am, presented by SYNNEX Corporation, for the seventh straight year. What a wonderful privilege and opportunity for our association!

In addition to receiving a donation from the foundation of the tournament, South Carolina Charities, Inc., there are a number of ways the NCCAA may increase its contribution level through increased involvement in tournament activities. Will you consider being involved with us during this event to help raise funds for the NCCAA?

VOLUNTEER: Bring your team or family with you to volunteer on our behalf - what an outreach opportunity!

PLAY: Place a two-person team in the Charity Challenge. If an NCCAA team wins, we receive an additional $20,000 in gift income. Or, play as an amateur in the entire event. Call us for details.

TICKETS: Knowing that you may not be able to attend the event yourself, will you consider purchasing one or more tickets (only $25 each) for the NCCAA to donate to local underprivileged youth and local donor cultivation? We receive 100% of our ticket sales.

Monies raised at this event support the NCCAA and our PRAY: Most of all, please pray for us as we serve ministry outreach. We are seeing lives changed for Christ our community during this event. We want to be a light to those around us and spread the message of the NCCAA ministry. around the world through support from this weekend tournament. Activities are included for the entire family!
