Zigrino Visualize | Realize | the Leather You Imagine, and More Zigrino Visualize | Realize | The leather you imagine, and more. Zigrino means “stingray” in Italian. Cortina created Zigrino and Baby Zigrino to allow designers to showcase the beauty of stingray in a sustainable manner with embossed cowhides. Historically, the skin of a pearl rayfish or stingray was supremely valued for its round, closely-set calcified scales. Cortina replicates this iconic look, sometimes called “shagreen,” and highlights its beauty with a varied collection of tipped, washes and other exotic looks on a pattern that repeats the central “jewel” every eight inches. Baby Zigrino offers the same exotic look on a smaller scale. When dyed, the result is a two-toned, translucent coloration throughout the skin. Note: Environmentally friendly Zingrino is lead free and emits low VOCs. These leathers include pure anilines, aniline leathers with less protection, nubuck leathers, suedes, etc. All Category 1 leathers are protected with water repellency to resist water spotting and are expected to patina, wear and age gracefully over time, making them perfect for many applications. However, these leathers are not recommended for uses where they will be subjected to heavy staining, abrasive wear or direct sunlight. More information is available on our website at cortinaleathers.com/ resources/performance/. Zigrino Leathers with Performance Category 2 retain their natural appearance while carrying additional protections against abrasion, staining and color fading. Aniline leathers with some protection and semi-anilines are found here. These leathers are suitable for a wide range of applications across a wide range of wear and stain risk, such as those found in commercial settings and dining areas. More information is available on our website at cortinaleathers.com/resources/performance/. Care & Cleaning Baby Zigrino Code Pure aniline and aniline leathers are designed to age and patina gracefully, increasing in beauty over time. Cortina Leathers’ pure aniline/aniline leathers are treated in the drum for water and soil repellency and so can be maintained with very little care. General upkeep requires only an occasional dusting with a clean cloth. Never use oils, saddle soaps, conditioners or cleaners on pure aniline or aniline leather. Pure aniline/aniline leathers have the least amount of protective finish, so spills and soiling should be removed immediately to avoid permanent discoloration. Should a spill occur, blot (pressing gently without rubbing) the spill with clean, dry sections of an absorbent cloth to soak up any remaining liquid. Do not rub. Should soiling remain, use lukewarm water to minimally dampen a clean white cloth with plain water and gently blot the affected area. Blot dry with paper towels or dry cloth, and allow to air dry. Caution must be used. It may be necessary to cease efforts prior to total stain removal because over-rubbing and over-wetting can do additional harm to the leather’s appearance. It may not be possible to remove all stains from this natural product. More information is available on our website at cortinaleathers.com/resources/care-cleaning/. Zigrino Code Semi-aniline leathers are protected against scratching and scuffing and designed to maintain their beauty over time. Very little care is required—general upkeep requires only an occasional dusting with a clean cloth. Never use oils, saddle soaps, harsh cleaners or cleaners containing abrasives on semi-aniline leather. Periodically, you may wish to gently wipe the leather with a clean, damp cloth to remove accumulated soil, then allow it to air dry. Should a spill occur, blot (pressing gently without rubbing) immediately to avoid permanent discoloration with clean, dry sections of an absorbent cloth. Should soiling remain, a solution of lukewarm water and a mild soap such as Ivory® or a mild cleanser such as Woolite® may be used. Dampen a clean white cloth in the solution and gently wipe the affected area using a circular motion. Never apply the solution directly to the leather. Rinse completely with clean cloth which is damp with plain water until all cleaner is removed. Blot dry with a paper towels or dry cloth and allow to completely air dry. It may be necessary to repeat this procedure, allowing the leather to completely dry between applications. To avoid harming the leather, do not rub vigorously or for an extended period. It may not be possible to remove all stains from this natural product. More information is available on our website at cortinaleathers.com/resources/care-cleaning/. • About Leather Types of Leather
About Leather Types of Leather Leather is an ancient, durable material created through a process of tanning animal rawhide to preserve it and make it pliable when dry. Many features of natural leather make it superior to synthetic products including durability, comfort, beauty, suppleness, and resilience. Plus, leather’s ability to patina and absorb body oils continues to enhance the leather’s appearance and makes it more beautiful over time. Leather can broadly be divided into full grain, enhanced grain, corrected grain, top grain and split leathers. Full Grain Leather Full grain leather has no surface alterations. The hide’s natural pores and grain textures are intact and it will develop a patina over time. The tiny pinholes dotting the surface indicate the hide’s open hair follicles. The presence of these hair follicles demonstrates a high quality surface which has not been altered to conceal flaws. This full grain surface breathes. It keeps the user Full grain comfortable as it adjusts to body temperature. Full grain leather is the highest quality, most beautiful, and most comfortable leather available. Enhanced Grain Leather Enhanced grain leather is a full grain with an artificial grain embossed over the natural grain. Enhanced grain leather has the same comfort and breathability of a full grain, but the surface has received minor alteration to improve grain Enhanced grain appearance. Corrected Grain Leather Corrected grain leather is produced from the upper portion of the hide. The surface is lightly sanded or refined then embossed with an artificial grain texture. Corrected grain leathers have a more consistent appearance across the entire surface.

IMG LEATHER GUIDE Whether you desire a racy red, powerful pewter or go-for-it green, we have a plethora of shades that can serve as your foundation for great design. IMG offers four grades of leather choices to suit any décor, budget and maintenance expectation. The wide variety of grades and colors offered by IMG allows you to select leather that will meet your budget, fashion and lifestyle needs. www.imgcomfort.com 1 LEATHER CARE Every hide tells a story No two leather hides are exactly alike, because each has a different history that may include climate, age and heredity. Natural Variation in Texture Premium leather hides used for upholstering furniture will exhibit non-uniform surface qualities, depending on the area of the hide from which they were cut. Pigment-dyed, buffed and embossed leather will obscure some of these natural texture characteristics. Variations in texture are not flaws and will not affect the leather’s durability. Common surface variations include scratches, wrinkles and healed scars. A. Scratches Smooth to the touch, these rub marks may accept dye with slight variation to the surrounding area. A B. Wrinkles Natural folds highlight unique grain patterns. B C. Healed Scars Barbed-wire scratches and abrasions create organic surface texture and one-of-a-kind authentic leather characteristics. These marks do not affect the durability of the hide. C Natural Variation in Shades Premium aniline and semi aniline dyed leather may further display subtle variations of color across the surface of the hide. When the hide is cut and sewn together on your furniture, care is taken to attempt to match adjacent pieces, but subtle color differences may occur.
