The company today is focused on providing superior luxury accessories, designed in an English style, for sophisticated, affluent men all over the world. We believe our focus on English accessories for men clearly differentiates us from the competition while being true to the history of the company. Indeed, embracing the idea of the new modish British gentleman, Alfred Dunhill has built a distinguished reputation based on the values of style, innovation, quality and wit. Jude’s masculine style and unparalleled status as a modern male icon - as well as being a considered and highly accomplished actor - perfectly complements the spirit of dunhill. dunhill is delighted to introduce the Homes of Alfred Dunhill in London, Shanghai and Tokyo. Committed to advancing the pursuit of male indulgence, this British luxury menswear and accessories brand has developed a unique global concept which embraces the male luxury and retail lifestyle. Reflecting its pillars of masculinity, functionality, quality and Britishness, the Homes of Alfred Dunhill will represent the third dimension of luxury – The Experience, allowing the customer to truly live the brand. dunhill markets its luxury products through over 200 stores worldwide. Currently there are approx. 2,500 wholesale points of sale globally. Range Plan SS11 History In the 1890s, London was filled with the noise and bustle of the greatest city in the world – horse-drawn carriages, the clatter of horses’ hooves and the crack of whips. This was the atmosphere in which Alfred’s father, Henry Dunhill, built his flourishing business in the Euston Road from about 1877. Horse leathers, saddlery and accessories for carriages were amongst the items with which the young apprentice, Alfred, at the age of 15, learned his trade. In 1893, Henry Dunhill decided to retire, allowing Alfred, at the age of twenty-one, to take over the business. Alfred was quick to take up the challenge and soon transformed his father’s original business in the horse-carriage trade to that of supplying accessories for the new age of the motor-car. Alfred Dunhill’s Motorities soon became integral to the needs of early motor-car drivers. Alfred was able to supply everything that was required, from heavy, weather-proof leather coats to altitude meters to assist up and downhill motoring, from voltmeters and clocks for the dashboard, to horns of extraordinary shape and musical ability which could frighten off the sleepiest drivers of old-fashioned horses and carts. Alfred opened shops in Mayfair during the 1910s and 20s that set the tone for the growth of the business. Alfred supplied not only the technical extras but also elegant motoring attire for ladies and gentlemen. He also catered for his customers’ social aspirations with such wonderful products as luncheon and tea outfits for what would become a celebrated English pastime – a picnic in the country, whatever the weather! Range Plan SS11 History The move into true luxury goods goes back to the 1920s. An office in New York was opened on 5th. Avenue in 1921, and in London a further shop was established in 1923. By the mid 1930s, dunhill was considered one of the most ‘luxuriously appointed luxury emporiums for men’. Goods included stationery, playing cards, frames, diaries, cocktail sets and bar accessories. By the late 1970s, dunhill was offering a range of 3500 luxury products for men in over 20 countries including a ready to wear collection launched in 1976. Royalty, rulers, Indian princes, politicians, diplomats, stars of stage & screen from Europe and the USA and celebrities of every description passed through the shop. Patrons included Pablo Picasso, Winston Churchill, The prince of Wales, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and many others. These cufflinks are worn by a discerning man who understands that in terms of Englishness, and of luxury, dunhill does it better than anyone else. dunhill continuously provides customers with designs that communicate personality, and that set dunhill apart from the competition. From the initial design drawings through to the final execution of the finished product, each dunhill cufflink has a confidence and quality that few can match. Using sterling silver, 18ct gold and steel as base materials, sourced internationally from superior suppliers, each cufflink is rhodium plated to avoid tarnishing. It is then individually hand polished by skilled craftsmen, ensuring the highest level of finish. Each season, the cufflink collection is rigorously analysed and creatively developed to ensure a balance between time-proven classics and pieces with newness and originality. With the highly original curved finding, a dunhill cufflink displays a quiet elegance on the inside of the cuff as well as the outside. • Stingray & Parchment
Stingray & Parchment Craftsmanship, Samples, Techniques, Care Instructions The Art of Craftsmanship Craftsmanship is the hallmark of all DK Home products. And the hallmark of fine craftsmanship is the mark of the artisan’s hand. What machines render perfectly, an artisan renders imperfectly. It is this signature ‘imperfection’ that renders each and every product – created exclusively for you by DK Home – unique. Therefore variation between similar objects is to be expected. Sizes are approximate and colours can vary as well. DK Home takes great care in selecting the best materials available from around the world. Quality is as important a criteria as preserving the environment and contributing to the wellness of the local community. DK Home complies with all international regulations. Stingray The word ‘shagreen’ originates from the French chagrin, originally defined as ‘rough and granular skin employed to rub, polish, file’. By the turn of the 17th century, the term was applied to shark- and stingray skin. Both species have closely set calcified scales, which, when dried, ground and polished, become the naturally textured skin known as shagreen. It is coincidence really, that this highly prized leather was traditionally dyed green. Stingrays, those ‘winged phantoms of the deep’, have captured the mind and imagination for centuries. Some species have backbones as unique as fingerprints, resembling a string of pearls, once thought to bring good luck and prosperity to the bearer. Egyptians prized stingray skin for its singular beauty and durability, fashioning armor and decorative items. Stingrays populate the shallow coastal waters of temperate seas along the Pacific Rim. Their remarkably durable, multi-patterned and colored skin – commonly reflecting the shading of the sea floor – is among the finest- ma terial used in the decorative arts.
