Academics

Course/ credit load One full year of study should equate to 60 ECTS. One semester of study should equate to 30 ECTS. https://www.uu.se/en/admissions/exchange/courses/list/ Courses available

Course enrolment Students will be pre-approved for courses and sent a confirmation of these in the admissions letter. Note: there is no add-or-drop period, so pre-approved courses are fairly fixed at the time of admission. Attending the start of each course will result in being registered on pre-approved courses, but each department has their own routines and the students will be notified of them after arrival.

Academic restrictions  Business courses – prerequisites vary considerably  Law courses – at least two years of prior Law studies are required  Medicine – as clinical courses in Medicine require knowledge of fluent Swedish and are very competitive, these courses rarely accept exchange students.  Natural Sciences including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Engineering - no entry level courses are available, so students must have strong academic backgrounds within these subjects and meet the eligibility requirements described in each course description.

Please research the suitability of the University of Uppsala for Previous Students your degree programme. The best part?

A variation in classes with different teaching styles, as well as the opportunity to meet a number of new people from around the world.”

The best part of my exchange was the people that I had the opportunity to meet. Uppsala is a fantastic place for that because of the nation system, in which all students become part of an association of their choice.”

The greatest challenge?

Even though the vast majority of Swedes speak English, the language and the culture barrier was a difficult part of my exchange.”

Advice for future exchange students

Accommodation

The accommodation offered by Uppsala is good value for money.”

General advice

Attend as many introductory events as possible.”

Embrace the student life including all the nations.”

Apply for the intensive course in August (start of autumn semester). You will meet so many friends so easily, plus learning basic Swedish is worth-while.”
