Alphascript Publishing. Taschenbuch. Book Condition: Neu. Neuware - 'Free as a Bird' is a song performed by The Beatles. The single was released on 4 December 1995, as part of the promotion for the release of The Beatles Anthology video documentary and the band's Anthology 1 compilation album. The song had been written and recorded as a demo by John Lennon in 1977. Paul McCartney asked Lennon's widow Yoko Ono for any unreleased material by Lennon, and 'Free as a Bird' was chosen as being the song all three remaining Beatles could be involved in, as they could finish the arrangement and write extra lyrics. Je Lynne of Electric Light Orchestra was asked to co-produce the record as he had worked with George Harrison as part of The Traveling Wilburys. The music video for 'Free as a Bird' was produced by Vincent Joliet and directed by Joe Pytka (Space Jam) and depicts, from the point of view of a bird in flight, many references to The Beatles songs, such as 'Strawberry Fields Forever,' 'Penny Lane', 'Paperback Writer', 'A Day in the Life', 'Eleanor Rigby', 'Helter Skelter' and many, many more. 252 pp. Englisch. 1 TH PLAYLIST FEB. 5 2017 SUPER SINGLES SUNDAY As we feature the Beatles 1 PLUS LP 2 9AM The entire NEW Beatles 1 PLUS (including bonus highlights) The Beatles - Love Me Do – Please Please Me (McCartney-Lennon) Lead vocal: John and Paul The Beatles’ first single release for EMI’s Parlophone label. Released October 5, 1962, it reached #17 on the British charts. Principally written by Paul McCartney in 1958 and 1959. Recorded with three different drummers: Pete Best (June 6, 1962, EMI), Ringo Starr (September 4, 1962), and Andy White (September 11, 3 1962 with Ringo playing tambourine). The 45 rpm single lists the songwriters as Lennon-McCartney. One of several Beatles songs Paul McCartney owns with Yoko Ono. Starting with the songs recorded for their debut album on February 11, 1963, Lennon and McCartney’s output was attached to their Northern Songs publishing company. Because their first single was released before John and Paul had contracted with a music publisher, EMI assigned it to their own, a company called Ardmore and Beechwood, which took the two songs “Love Me Do” and “P.S. I Love You.” Decades later McCartney and Ono were able to purchase the songs for their respective companies, MPL Communications and Lenono Music. Fun fact: John Lennon shoplifted the harmonica he played on the song from a shop in Holland. • MTO 11.4: Spicer, Review of the Beatles As Musicians
Volume 11, Number 4, October 2005 Copyright © 2005 Society for Music Theory Mark Spicer Received October 2005 [1] As I thought about how best to begin this review, an article by David Fricke in the latest issue of Rolling Stone caught my attention.(1) Entitled “Beatles Maniacs,” the article tells the tale of the Fab Faux, a New York-based Beatles tribute group— founded in 1998 by Will Lee (longtime bassist for Paul Schaffer’s CBS Orchestra on the Late Show With David Letterman)—that has quickly risen to become “the most-accomplished band in the Beatles-cover business.” By painstakingly learning their respective parts note-by-note from the original studio recordings, the Fab Faux to date have mastered and performed live “160 of the 211 songs in the official canon.”(2) Lee likens his group’s approach to performing the Beatles to “the way classical musicians start a chamber orchestra to play Mozart . as perfectly as we can.” As the Faux’s drummer Rich Pagano puts it, “[t]his is the greatest music ever written, and we’re such freaks for it.” [2] It’s been over thirty-five years since the real Fab Four called it quits, and the group is now down to two surviving members, yet somehow the Beatles remain as popular as ever. Hardly a month goes by, it seems, without something new and Beatle-related appearing in the mass media to remind us of just how important this group has been, and continues to be, in shaping our postmodern world. For example, as I write this, the current issue of TV Guide (August 14–20, 2005) is a “special tribute” issue commemorating the fortieth anniversary of the Beatles’ sold-out performance at New York’s Shea Stadium on August 15, 1965—a concert which, as the magazine notes, marked the “dawning of a new era for rock music” where “[v]ast outdoor shows would become the superstar standard.”(3) The cover of my copy—one of four covers for this week’s issue, each featuring a different Beatle—boasts a photograph of Paul McCartney onstage at the Shea concert, his famous Höfner “violin” bass gripped in one hand as he waves to the crowd with the other.

1 PLAYLIST JANUARY 19TH 2014 BROADCAST LIVE FROM THE KOBE STEAKHOUSE SEAL BEACH, CA 1 2 9AM The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour - Magical Mystery Tour (EP) (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocals: Paul and John When Paul McCartney was in the U.S. in early April 1967 he came up with the idea for a Beatles television film about a mystery tour on a bus. During the April 11 flight back home he began writing lyrics for the title song and sketching out some ideas for the film. Upon his arrival in London, Paul pitched his idea to Brian Epstein who happily approved. Paul then met with John to go over the details and the two began work on the film’s title track. The title track was written primarily by Paul but was not finished when McCartney brought the song in to be recorded on April 25, 1967. John helped with 2 3 the missing pieces during the session. The Beatles - The Fool On The Hill - Magical Mystery Tour (EP) (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: Paul Sitting alone at the piano, Paul McCartney recorded a mono two-track demo of “The Fool On the Hill” on September 6, 1967. A more proper recording would take place September 25. On the 25th three takes of the basic rhythm track were recorded, including harmonicas played by John and George. Paul first brought the song to John’s attention in mid-March while the two were working on the lyrics for “With A Little Help From My Friends.” John said to write down the lyrics so he wouldn’t forget them.

THE BEATLES IMAGE: MASS MARKETING 1960s BRITISH AND AMERICAN MUSIC AND CULTURE, OR BEING A SHORT THESIS ON THE DUBIOUS PACKAGE OF THE BEATLES by Richard D Driver, Bachelor of Arts A Thesis In HISTORY Submitted to the Graduate Faculty of Texas Tech University in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of MASTER OF ARTS Approved Aliza S Wong Randy McBee John Borrelli Dean of the Graduate School May, 2007 Copyright 2007, Richard Driver Texas Tech University, Richard D Driver, May 2007 ACKNOWLEDGMENTS This work could not have been possible without the encouragement and guidance of a number of individuals, as well as countless persons who pulled books, worked through interlibrary loans, and simply listened to me talk about it. Without the guidance, tolerance, insight, time, and encouragement of my committee, Aliza S Wong and Randy McBee, this thesis would have remained nothing more than a passing thought. Aliza, more than any other professor has been there for me since this project truly began over two years ago. It was her initial push for me to write about something I loved that drove me to attend Graduate school and then build upon what I had done previously with The Beatles “image.” Dr. McBee provided excellent guidance into understanding many of the post-war American facets of this work, not simply those related to The Beatles or music in general. Additional thanks are reserved for Dr. Julie Willett for her class on sexuality and gender where new methods and modes of historical thought were founded in this work. Finally, this thesis would have been impossible had I not been accepted into and granted a teaching position in the History Department at Texas Tech University, and it is to the entire department that I owe my greatest thanks.
