1 PLAYLIST AUG. 5TH 2012 Special Guests WINGS Denny Seiwell – Denny Laine – Laurence Juber 1 2 9AM The Beatles - Rain - Non-LP B-side (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: John Recorded on April 14 and 16, 1966. The track is notable for the backwards vocal from John Lennon at the end of the song. The section is John singing part of the first verse but the tape is superimposed backwards in the mix. The song contains slowed down instruments, guitar distortion, and vocals recorded and played back at variable speed. Aside from Paul McCartney’s dominant bass part, the song features a striking drum performance from Ringo, who has called “Rain” his favorite Beatles song. The B-side of “Paperback Writer.” Issued in America on May 23, 1966 and the UK on June 10, 1966, several months in advance of the “Revolver” album. On U.S. album: Hey Jude - Capitol LP (1970) 2 3 The Beatles - Paperback Writer - A Collection Of Beatles Oldies (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: Paul The Beatles’ twelfth single release for EMI’s Parlophone label. Recorded on April 13 and 14, 1966. The track is notable for Paul McCartney’s furious bass line. The bass is so prominent in the mix that sound engineers at EMI worried it could cause the stylus of a record player tone arm (the needle thing on record players) to jump when fans played the 45 RPM single at home. Thankfully, no such calamity occurred. For this heavy bass sound Paul’s chose to replace his usual Hofner bass with a Rickenbacker 4001S bass.

  • Super Bowl Singles Sunday 2017
1 TH PLAYLIST FEB. 5 2017 SUPER SINGLES SUNDAY As we feature the Beatles 1 PLUS LP 2 9AM The entire NEW Beatles 1 PLUS (including bonus highlights) The Beatles - Love Me Do – Please Please Me (McCartney-Lennon) Lead vocal: John and Paul The Beatles’ first single release for EMI’s Parlophone label. Released October 5, 1962, it reached #17 on the British charts. Principally written by Paul McCartney in 1958 and 1959. Recorded with three different drummers: Pete Best (June 6, 1962, EMI), Ringo Starr (September 4, 1962), and Andy White (September 11, 3 1962 with Ringo playing tambourine). The 45 rpm single lists the songwriters as Lennon-McCartney. One of several Beatles songs Paul McCartney owns with Yoko Ono. Starting with the songs recorded for their debut album on February 11, 1963, Lennon and McCartney’s output was attached to their Northern Songs publishing company. Because their first single was released before John and Paul had contracted with a music publisher, EMI assigned it to their own, a company called Ardmore and Beechwood, which took the two songs “Love Me Do” and “P.S. I Love You.” Decades later McCartney and Ono were able to purchase the songs for their respective companies, MPL Communications and Lenono Music. Fun fact: John Lennon shoplifted the harmonica he played on the song from a shop in Holland. On U.S. albums: Introducing… The Beatles (Version 1) - Vee-Jay LP The Early Beatles - Capitol LP The Beatles - From Me To You - A Collection of Beatles Oldies `66 (McCartney-Lennon) Lead vocal: John and Paul The Beatles’ third single release for EMI’s Parlophone label.

1 PLAYLIST AUG. 7th 2016 Part 1 of our Revolver @ 50 Special~ We will dedicate to early versions of songs…plus the single that preceded the release of REVOLVER…Lets start with the first song recorded for the album it was called Mark 1 in April of 1966…good morning hipsters 2 9AM The Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows – Revolver TK1 (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: John The first song recorded for what would become the “Revolver” album. John’s composition was unlike anything The Beatles or anyone else had ever recorded. Lennon’s vocal is buried under a wall of sound -- an assemblage of repeating tape loops and sound effects – placed on top of a dense one chord song with basic melody driven by Ringo's thunderous drum pattern. The lyrics were largely taken from “The Psychedelic Experience,” a 1964 book written by Harvard psychologists Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert, which contained an adaptation of the ancient “Tibetan Book of the Dead.” Each Beatle worked at home on creating strange sounds to add to the mix. Then they were added at different speeds sometime backwards. Paul got “arranging” credit. He had discovered that by removing the erase head on his Grundig reel-to-reel tape machine, he could saturate a recording with sound. A bit of….The Beatles - For No One - Revolver (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: Paul 3 The Beatles - Here, There And Everywhere / TK’s 7 & 13 - Revolver (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: Paul Written by Paul while sitting by the pool of John’s estate, this classic ballad was inspired by The Beach Boys’ “God Only Knows.” Completed in 14 takes spread over three sessions on June 14, 16 and 17, 1966.

Alphascript Publishing. Taschenbuch. Book Condition: Neu. Neuware - 'Free as a Bird' is a song performed by The Beatles. The single was released on 4 December 1995, as part of the promotion for the release of The Beatles Anthology video documentary and the band's Anthology 1 compilation album. The song had been written and recorded as a demo by John Lennon in 1977. Paul McCartney asked Lennon's widow Yoko Ono for any unreleased material by Lennon, and 'Free as a Bird' was chosen as being the song all three remaining Beatles could be involved in, as they could finish the arrangement and write extra lyrics. Je Lynne of Electric Light Orchestra was asked to co-produce the record as he had worked with George Harrison as part of The Traveling Wilburys. The music video for 'Free as a Bird' was produced by Vincent Joliet and directed by Joe Pytka (Space Jam) and depicts, from the point of view of a bird in flight, many references to The Beatles songs, such as 'Strawberry Fields Forever,' 'Penny Lane', 'Paperback Writer', 'A Day in the Life', 'Eleanor Rigby', 'Helter Skelter' and many, many more.

DESCRIPTORS *Academic Achievement; Cultural Context; *Educational Attitudes; Elementary Education; Ethnography; *Literacy; *Low Income; Reading Attitudes; Social Influences; *Socioeconomic Status IDENTIFIERS *Literacy as a Social Process; *New York (Upstate) ABSTRACT An ethnographic study examined and compared schooled and non-schooled uses of literacy and literature in a small, rural, all white, Adirondack Mountain community in upstate New York to explicate the way in which low social class and economic status constrain school achievement. More than 75 interviews were conducted over a 3-year period with students, teachers, school administrators, former students, parents, community members, and local employers. Observations were also conducted at graduations, holiday celebrations, faculty meetings, and the non-school classroom of hunters' safety training and snowmobile safety training. Results indicated that most of the families in the town are literate and are often involved with literacy during the course of their daily lives. Literacy is seen to exist within a social and cultural context, and its definitions are varied and changeable. People in the town understand what is required for academic achievement, but often choose not to pursue it. In both school and non-school settings, literacy is used for particular purposes, and there are specific demands placed by the community upon its members regarding specific texts.

L.M. van der Schoot The Beatles, Instrumentals en fora mei 2009 The Beatles, Instrumentals en Fora L.M. van der Schoot Studentnummer: 0456659. Begeleiding: Joke Dame Cursusnaam: MA Thesis Muziekwetenschap. Cursuscode: 200501202. Universiteit Utrecht; Faculteit Geesteswetenschappen; opleiding Muziekwetenschap. Datum: mei 2009. 1 Lotte van der Schoot The Beatles, Instrumentals en Google Maart 2009 “Anyone tackling the oft-told tale of John, Paul, George and Ringo had better come up with a new angle, or new facts, or new interviews, or new something - or risk suffering the wrath of zillions of Beatles nuts.”

  • Glass Onion Tapestry
June 2014 Press Release Dovecot Studios and Magne Furuholmen collaborate to create Glass Onion tapestry Following an introduction from Paul Stolper, Dovecot Studios are delighted to be working with Norwegian artist Magne Furuholmen on an exciting new collaboration in tapestry. Dovecot invited Furuholmen to the Studios in early 2013 to consider a tapestry project and following a series of conversations with Dovecot’s weaving team, he returned to the studios in late April 2014 with a selection of design ideas derived from a series of ten large format woodcut prints collectively known as Norwegian Wood. Furuholmen has created a new print titled Glass Onion, specifically as a design for the tapestry, using music as its main reference point. Dovecot are particularly thrilled by this project as Furuholmen’s holistic approach to his practice as an artist - continually assessing his modus operandi and experimenting with various media – will ensure that his involvement in the creation of Glass Onion will be rewarding for all those who are involved in the process. The Glass Onion tapestry will be woven at Dovecot under the supervision of Master Weaver Naomi Robertson. This process will begin in June 2014 and continue throughout the Edinburgh Art Festival to be completed before embarking on a tour in late September. Three of Furuholmen’s Glass Onion woodblock prints will be displayed as part of Dovecot’s summer exhibition Current Exchanges: Dovecot and the Australian Tapestry Workshop, and viewers will be able to watch the weavers work on the tapestry from the Balcony. A major exhibition of Magne Furuholmen’s work is scheduled at Dovecot for early 2015.
