Shepherd of Souls AFC * Parish News & Events

A Note from Fr. Jeff Horejsi …. Lent is a time set-aside to prepare to celebrate the Paschal Mystery of the Lord’s death and resurrection at Easter. We continue our celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation this Wednesday evening at 6:45 pm at Our Lady. Friday evenings at 5 pm (before Stations) and Saturdays before Mass are also opportunities to celebrate the sacrament. Next week our parishes will take up The Catholic Relief Services Collection. Your support for this collection gives aid to victims of persecution and natural disasters, provides legal services to poor immigrants, and advocates for the powerless. Through your generosity, six Catholic agencies help Jesus in the guise of the vulnerable refugee, the immigrant family, and the poor and marginalized. Next week, please give generously to the collection and help Jesus in disguise. Learn more about the collection at www.usccb.org/catholic-relief. The Bishop Lucker Lecture will be a virtual event this year Monday, March 8 at 7 pm. Johnnette Benkovic Williams will present her Journey of Faith. We will live stream it at St. Philip’s Social Hall and Our Lady Parish Center for those who would like to gather for it. Please remember to set your clocks one hour ahead before going to sleep on Saturday March 13th as we begin Daylight Savings Time. We will be streaming Mass live on our website using Facebook Live every Sunday at 8:00 am. You can follow us at https://www.facebook.com/pg/Shepherd-Of-Souls-AFC-109977054166477/videos/. ALASKAN POLLOCK BAKED POTATO COLE SLAW BAKED BEANS DINNER ROLL COOKIE

Thank you to everyone that bought a ticket for the Catholic United Financial raffle ticket sale. We were blessed to have many of you buy tickets. We were also blessed with families selling tickets and working hard for our school. We were able to raise $10,505.00 with the sale of tickets. The top selling family is Laci and Zac McCann. They received a $100 Amazon gift card. CONGRATULATIONS! We held the final drawing for student winners. They were kindergartener Otto Elton, 2nd grader Cate Louwagie, and 4th grader Sofia Dowdell. CONGRATULATIONS! Last Friday we held our annual Lenten Retreat. We gathered as a school community to learn more about this special season. We began our day at school - like usual. And then took the Blue Bus over for Mass. After Mass we spent the entire day at church. We held Lenten activities including Stations of the Cross, reconciliation, adoration, and an Easter art project to send home. We even had our lunch there. At the end of the day, we loaded students on the buses or families picked up their children. It was a wonderful spiritual filled day. We have a very special Lenten project going on at school. We are collecting spare change. We are hoping to collect enough to fill a large glass jar. At the end of the month the money will be taken to the bank to be counted and then donated to the Meeker Area Food Shelf. The food shelf will be able to use the money to buy items that have not been donated. Mrs. Linda Barrick has joined our staff as our new first grade teacher after the resignation of Mrs. Peterson. Mrs. Barrick is a member of the Church of St. Philip. Linda and her family have all been supportive and involved in the school and we are truly blessed that she was able to take over on such short notice. Please welcome her if you get the chance. IRD in Litchfield is this week’s silver donor. That are ready to create customized precision glass. We are thankful that they support our Small Steps Big Intentions Marathon!
