Shepherd of Souls AFC * Parish News & Events

A Note from Fr. Jeff Horejsi …. Catholic Schools Week will be celebrated the week of January 31 through February 6. Once again, a second collection will be taken up at all Masses in the diocese the last weekend in January to benefit Catholic schools in the Diocese of New Ulm. In our area faith community, 75 percent of the proceeds will go directly to The School of St. Philip. The other 25 percent will be deposited equally in two endowment funds already set up to benefit Catholic schools. The two funds are the Bishop John M. LeVoir Catholic School Endowment Fund (proceeds benefit all Catholic schools in the diocese based on enrollment) and the Bishop John C. Nienstedt Catholic School Scholarship Fund (proceeds benefit students who cannot afford tuition). Please support this important collection on January 30 and 31 by placing your offering in a specially marked basket for Catholic Schools Week. In today’s Gospel Jesus called four disciples to follow him. We are also called to follow Jesus more closely. Our AFC Mission will help us to do this. We have added two additional sites for taking in the Feb. 8-11th Mission each evening from 6:30-8:00 pm. Deacon Ralph Poyo will be at St. Philip, and both the Parish Center at Our Lady and the Education Center at St. John will be live-streaming the Mission so that those who want to have more space to spread out can do so. The Mission can also be live-streamed wherever you are at, and the video will be available on our website to watch at a later time. This year the annual Ecumenical Prayer Service for Christian Unity will be held virtually, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event will be held on Sunday, January 24 from 2-3 pm with individuals and congregations, representing several Christian denominations in the southwest and west central Minnesota, gathering for an Ecumenical Celebration of the Word of God. The theme this year is "Abide in my love and you shall bear much fruit." More information can be found at: https://www.dnu.org/diocesan-events/2021/1/24/virtual-ecumenical-prayer- service. We will be streaming Mass live on our website using Facebook Live every Sunday at 8:00 am. You can follow us at https://www.facebook.com/pg/Shepherd-Of-Souls-AFC-109977054166477/videos/. The video will remain on our website after the mass is over. Again, I want to thank you for your continued financial gifts to your parish. Any donations can be mailed or made online at https://www.shepherdofsouls.org/donate. Please specify the name of the parish or fund you are donating to in the comments area.
