Craig “Boomer” Fechko is in his second season as assistant coach Harry Turner returns for his second year as a volunteer assistant for the UB Bulls wrestling program. Fechko works with the UB coach for the Buffalo Bulls wrestling program. Turner works lightweights. primarily with the upperweights.

In his first season with the Bulls, Fechko helped coach Bryan In his first season with UB, Turner helped guide Joe Ariola (184) Lantry (133) and Colt Cotten (149) to the NCAAs. Prior to serving as volunteer assistant coach at Bloomsburg, the Broadview Heights, Ohio, native served as a graduate assistant wrestling coach at DWU from 2010-2012 under Matt Sedivy and played a key role in both recruiting and day-to-day operations with the program.

He wrestled at Heidelberg, but earned NCAA Division II All- American honors at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio, prior to transferring to Heidelberg. While at Heidelberg he qualified for the NCAA Division III national tournament. After graduating, he was the head wrestling coach at Quincy High School in Quincy, Calif., and the assistant coach for the Legends of Gold club team in Quincy.

Fechko graduated in 2009 with a degree in business administration from Heidelberg University, an NCAA Division III school in Tiffin, Ohio. He then earned his master’s degree in educational policy and administration from Dakota Wesleyan in 2012.

High School: Was a four year member and two year team captain of the wrestling team at Sycamore High School. As a senior, he com- piled a record of 45-1 en route to a second place finish at the Illinois State Tournament, following a junior season in which he collected the state title. He finished his career as a four time state placer and four time conference champion. Was also named All-American on three occasions. He finished in 3rd place at the USA Junior Freestyle Nationals as a junior. Akins is ranked as a top 100 recruit by Flowrestling while also ranking as high as 9th at the 120 pound weight class by Intermat.

THE 1977-78 NCAA DIVISION III CHAMPIONS

The University at Buffalo wrestling program is the only team in the school’s existence to capture an NCAA national championship. For winning the NCAA Division III title, the entire 1977-78 squad and its coaching staff were inducted into the University at Buffalo Athletics Hall of Fame in 1995.

Although the University at Buffalo was founded in 1846, it was not until 13 NCAA Championship tournaments.
