X It was Oklahoma wrestling’s 24th conference championship all-time, but first since 2002. The team was NCAA Qualifiers Returning/Lost: 5/1 powered by a trio of finalists and one individual champion in Dom Demas. The Sooners took the lead in session two behind five bonus point victories in the consolation bracket. X Hodge, a National Wrestling Hall of Famer, died on Dec. 24, 2020, at the age of 88 in his hometown of Perry, Okla. He came to Norman from Perry in 1955 to wrestle of hall-of-fame-coach Port Robertson. Hodge compiled a perfect 46-0 record as a Sooner, winning 36 of his matches via fall. X The legend won three consecutive national titles, and his performance at the 1957 NCAA championship earned him MOW honors and led the Sooners to their fourth national championship.
