Quim Torra (Blanes, 1962) va anar de número onze a les llistes de Junts per Catalunya (JxCat) i ha estat un dels encarregats de negociar amb la CUP en els primers compassos de legislatura. -

Aires nous a ERC? A fi d’acarar amb un mínim de garanties les eleccions espanyoles, Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya sembla voler recobrar aquell “aire nou” impulsat per “mans netes” que tants bons resultats li va donar en el seu moment. No tan sols ha canviat el seu president, substituint Joan Puigcercós per Oriol Junqueras, sinó que —després d’una més que lamentable lluita intestina fratricida— ha tingut la bona idea d’escollir un independent amb empenta, Alfred Bosch, com a cap de llista per la demarcació de Barcelona. Convidant, a més a més, a les altres forces independentistes a afegir-se al seu projecte. Crida que desoí Solidaritat Catalana, però que acollí amb els braços esbatanats Reagrupament, aquella fracassada formació política on s’havien reunit les seves ovelles negres esgarriades. Talment com si, després de la seva espectacular esfondrada electoral, Joan Carretero i els seus n’haguessin tingut prou amb un estentori i temptador xiulet del seu vell pastor per a retornar, amb la cua entre cames, a la cleda que fins fa tot just quatre dies tant els engavanyava. Fa la impressió que per a dedicar-se a la política sigui necessari comptar amb un cert component de desmemòria adaptativa, que permeti patir sobtats atacs d’amnèsia quan més convé. Ataca d’amnèsia que, si és possible, s’haurien d’encomanar als electors... Hem de recórrer a les hemeroteques a fi de recordar que, encara no fa un any i mig, el llavors Conseller d'Innovació, Universitats i Empresa, Josep Huguet, definia al líder de Reagrupament com un independentista “de dreta” —“digues-li dreta, digues-li populista”? O que l’incombustible Puigcercós, que segueix aferrat contumaçment a l’executiva nacional d’ERC, el convidava a abandonar Esquerra per a “omplir l’espai de centredreta independentista”. -

Brussels, 17th June 2019 Dear Bureau Members of the European Parliament, Newly elected MEPs Carles Puigdemont, Antoni Comín and Oriol Junqueras, have been prevented from taking office as Members of the European Parliament by the Spanish authorities after the European election on 26th of May. The list led by Carles Puigdemont and Antoni Comín received 1.025.411 votes, and the list led by Oriol Junqueras received 1.257.484 votes. On 14th of June 2019, elected MEP Oriol Junqueras –in pre-trial detention for 593 days for having organized the Catalan self-determination referendum in 2017– has been banned by the Spanish Supreme Court to leave the prison in order to take the MEP credential. Furthermore, on the 13th of June 2019, the Spanish Electoral Board imposed elected MEPs Carles Puigdemont and Antoni Comín –in exile since October 2017– to be personally in Madrid in order to take their seats as MEPs. The decisions taken by the Spanish authorities banning newly elected MEPs from taking office and attending to the European Parliament’s constitutive plenary session on the 2nd July 2019 are a clear violation of their political rights and a disregard of more than 2 million European citizens that voted for them. These acts of the Spanish authorities attempt against the political rights of the MEP-elected Carles Puigdemont, Oriol Junqueras, Antoni Comín and more than 2 million European citizens that voted for them. An unacceptable breach of the Rules of Procedures of the European Parliament, the consolidated Treaties of the EU, the European Charter of Fundamental Rights, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. -

Elena BURÉS GRANDÍO Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya (CDC): del nacionalismo moderado al soberanismo bajo el liderazgo de Artur Mas Trabajo Final de Máster dirigido por Oriol BARTOMEUS ICPS 2016 Resumen Este trabajo profundiza sobre el cambio que ha experimentado el partido catalán Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya bajo el liderazgo de Artur Mas, pasando así del nacionalismo moderado a la defensa del soberanismo, por lo que además de repasar la evolución del partido, y realizar una aproximación teórica sobre la personalización de la política y el origen de los nacionalismos, se recurre a los sondeos de opinión para observar que cambios se han producido en el electorado y la evolución en el apoyo a la independencia en el territorio. Resum Aquest treball aprofundeix sobre el canvi que ha experimentat el partit català Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya sota el lideratge d'Artur Mas, passant així del nacionalisme moderat a la defensa del soberanisme i, a més de repassar l'evolució del partit, i realitzar una aproximació teòrica sobre la personalització de la política i l'origen dels nacionalismes, es recorre a els sondejos d'opinió per observar quins canvis s'han produït entre l'electorat i en l'evolució en el suport a la independència al territori. I cannot wait to meet all of you in February. Time is of the essence and the Catalan Republic needs creating! As for a little bit about myself: MUN is my life! Last year, I served on the AmeriMUNC Secretariat as the Charges D’Affaires and currently I am an Assistant Head Delegate of the AU Model United Nations competitive travel team. I have done MUN for seven years, competing at 24 conferences across the US and Canada, and I once chaired a conference in the Netherlands! I’m proud to say that AmeriMUNC will be my eighth time chairing. Outside of MUN, I am also the President of my sorority, Phi Mu.
