Serves as a great complement to my Old Testament lectures in college. Maps, notes--all that stuff is very helpful and expands my understanding of what we're covering in classes. And using this Kindle edition makes locating a reference almost instantaneous. No riffling thin pages, searching for one verse, while the professor has already moved on. For the first time ever I'm actually reading along, not flipping pages. (I've had the books of the Bible memorized in order since I was eight years old, but there are an awful lot of pages in a Bible, and it takes a little time to locate a passage, unless you've visited it so many times that the book just falls open there!)A great version. I don't see using my old leather-bound much any more with this on my Kindle.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Kindle edition not so difficult to navigateBy Philip J. Bohlken(This review is really about the Kindle edition, not the hardback.) I have been a Lutheran pastor for 40 years. I had looked at the hardback edition of this Bible several times in a store and was favorably impressed. Now I have a Kindle Touch and wanted a study Bible on it for the reference materials so I have some good tools when I am traveling light.I wish the "Go To" tool took me to a table of contents where I could tap on the name of a book and go to the chapter list for that book. The "Go To" tool takes me to a list of explanatory items. If I swipe vertically with my finger, I can get to names of biblical books and tap on the one of my choice. I should also say I recently downloaded new firmware for my Kindle, and that changed how navigation features work in other I have on my Kindle. I cannot guarantee how navigation features work in this Bible now is how they were designed to work. And, different Kindle models may be similar, but still are different in their menu screens and navigation.I read reviews that speak about how difficult navigating this (and other study Bibles) is, but I have found it quite easy to navigate. The Touch makes things a little difficult because a link for a cross reference may be adjacent to a link for a study note. My fingers are too fat to know for certain which link will open. A suitable stylus will help a lot. A link to a commentary note includes links to support passages. I use the back arrow to get back to where I began. It works just fine, even if I need to use it a couple of times to get back to the text I was viewing.Topic or theme discussions are hot linked in the Bible text where one would want them for quickly jumping to the material and quickly going back to the biblical text.I have already found some notes that do not include key information I read elsewhere, or include things with which I do not totally agree. It is easy to block text as in any book and add my own notations. That includes adding a reference to another passage I believe is important, but is not included in the list of passages provided by the editors.I have other study Bibles I prefer, but this is a good tool to have on my Kindle when I am away from my books.UPDATE: My wife and I each got an iPhone 4s. I installed the free Kindle reader for the iPhone and moved this Bible to the iPhone. It really does not work on the iPhone. Navigation does not work, especially links to passages, etc. It is good on a Kindle, but not in a Kindle app on an iPhone.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Hard to understandBy cookIt is hard to move around the book. It uses numbers not words. It would be better to look f or a book b y name not number. I'm not satisfied with this purchase.
