564 DENR Administrative Order No. 2000-86 December 06, 2000 DENR Administrative Order No. 2000-86 December 06, 2000 SUBJECT : Redistricting of PENR and CENR Offices in Region IX Pursuant to the objectives of DENR Administrative Order No. 99-14 dated 05 May 1999, providing for the redefinition of functions and realignments of administrative units in the regional and field offices, the management and supervision of the following provinces/cities/municipalities are hereby placed under the administrative jurisdiction of the respective DENR offices in Region IX and are hereby operationalized for purposes of this Order, to wit: OFFICE OF THE REGIONAL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR The Regional Executive Director shall exercise over-all supervision of the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Basilan and shall assume the functions of a Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer of CENRO Central of Zamboanga City. PENR AND CENR OFFICES The PENR Offices shall have direct supervision of all CENR Offices in the province and shall likewise assume the functions of a CENR Office in the municipalities indicated below. San Juan ASEAN Citation Index College of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Western Mindanao State University, Zamboanga City, Philippines [email protected] Date Received: October 6, 2018; Date Revised: August 14, 2019 Abstract – The study aimed to assess the community participation in the implementation of the solid waste management program of ten (10) community associations in Zamboanga City relative to the five (5) E’s components, namely: education, engineering, entrepreneurship, enforcement and environmental organization as prescribed under the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. Level of awareness and practices of the community were identified to include best practices, challenges and constraints. To meet the research objectives, the study employed the triangulation method consisting of 1) Survey to determine the level of awareness and practices of the respondents regarding the solid waste management in their community; along with 2) Focus Group Discussion; 3) Key Informant Interview and 4) Direct Observation to determine the community participation, constraints and challenges. The results showed that majority of the communities are aware of the solid waste management program in terms of the five E’s components, although improvements of 3 aspects such as engineering, entrepreneurship and enforcement are recommended. The level of community participation depends on the leadership of the community officials.

E-mail: [email protected] Abstract Using a combination of fixed morphological character differences, mitochondrial DNA sequence data, and an estimate of phylogeny as our guide, we describe a new species of bent-toed gekkonid lizard (Genus: Cyrtodactylus) from southwestern Mindanao Island, and northeastern portions of the Sulu Archipelago, southern Philippines. The new species resembles C. annulatus, but differs from this and all other congeners by characteristics of external morphology, color pattern, and body size. In addition, the new species is distinguished from congeners by marked genetic divergence and reciprocal monophyly of mitochondrial DNA sequences. The new species is common in pristine, low elevation gallery forests throughout Pasonanca Natural Park, Zamboanga Peninsula, southwestern Mindanao Island, and the northeastern portions of the Sulu Archipelago. CAYETANO EXPLANATORY NOTE This bill seeks to declare the Pasonanca Watershed Forest Reserve in Zamboanga City as a Protected Area under the category of a natural park, to be known as the Pasonanca Natural Park. With a total area of 17,414 hectares, the Pasonanca Natural Park covers the following areas: Pasonanca, Lumayang, Tolosa, Bungiao, Dulian, Baluno, Salaan, Cacao, Lunzuran, La Paz, Lapacan, and Lamisahan. The dense secondary and prim'ary growth dipterocarp forest is rich with floral and faunal species. Aside from the rich forest, Pasonanca Natural Park houses perennial springs/streams/creeks which traverse and drain the stretch of the Tumaga River, Pasonanca Natural Park also serves as' a source of water for the residents of Zamboanga City It was proclaimed as the Pasonanca Natural Park by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 132 dated July 5, 1999, This bill, further, seeks to declare the Pasonanca Natural Park as a protected area in order to guard it from indiscriminate exploitation, maintain its ecological balance and preserve its source of water supply, . Given the importance of biodiversity, it is crucial that we act on this bill now to ensure that our children and the succeeding generations will inherit a living earth with all of its bountiful natural resources and vibrant wildlife.
