GACS 2015 Report

On the last day of the show 18th June 2015, Mr Izwan Zarik, Director of Corporate Planning and Research presented a paper entitled ‘Malaysia’s Capability in Supplying Rubber Automotive Components’ at a forum on Automotive Interior held in Hall 3. The talk was attended by about 20 people, consisting both exhibitors and visitors at the show. The main objective of the presentation is to create awareness on the capabilities of Malaysian companies and the Malaysian rubber products industry in supplying quality rubber automotive parts to the European automotive sector.

There was a question raised during the Q&A session on whether is there any R&D done on rubber products as Malaysia is known for its strong R&D in the upstream sector. Mr Izwan replied by saying that both Malaysian and TARRC had conducted some product developments on molded parts such as anti-vibration products and both institutions has experts in designing and developing other engineered products.

6.0 Conclusion

In conclusion, GACS 2015 allowed participating manufacturers to further assess the potential of Germany, the second largest country of Malaysia’s rubber automotive components export. Companies participated under MREPC had the opportunities to meet and discuss potential business with decision makers and procurement officers of different Tier Suppliers in the European automotive industry. For MREPC, GACS is a very specialized and a relatively small trade fair to widely promote our Malaysian rubber automotive parts in the European market. The show also attracted limited number of potential buyers from the aftermarket segment.
