1 The Mongol Rally

The Mongol Rally is an driving adventure that starts in Goodwood, England and ends in Ulan-Ude Russia, passing through in . The journey must be undertaken in a small, underpowered and quite frankly unfit vehicle for the journey. There is no support or set routes and teams are completely on their own; utterly dependant on their own wits to see them through.

The rules of the Rally are gloriously simple… 1

You can only take a farcically small vehicle of 1 litre or less.

2

You’re completely on your own.

3

You’ve got to raise £1000 for charity

2 Team ‘Dont Smell My Shoes’

‘Don’t Smell My Shoes’ is a Mongol Rally team with a unique climbing theme and a stinking great name. The team consists of Adam, Danny, Oli and Kane. People with a love for climbing, bouldering and generally doing things that are dangerous and/or poorly conceived. We will be undertaking the Mongol Rally the summer of 2018 in our valiant steed, the Nissan Micra. As we are all fans of climbing we will be modifying our car with climbing hand holds and rope for that extra special flair. (Warning: Do not climb on car while in transit).

3 The Route

The Un-Route The Mongol Rally runs on the philosophy of the un-route. The un-route is a simple yet devastatingly effective concept. There’s a start line and a finish line. Everything in between is up to you.

Our Route However appealing the idea of driving of into the sunset with little to no planning is, this is unfortunately not possible. Red tape, the very thing the Mongol Rally tries to get you away from, means visas. We therefore need a good idea of which countries we are going to and when. Our current route is:

• England • Kosovo • France • Macedonia • Belgium • Bulgaria • Netherlands • Turkey • Germany • Georgia • Czechia • Azergaijan • Slovakia • • Austria • • Hungary • Tajikistan • Croatia • Kyrgyzstan • Bosnia and Herzegovia • Kazakhstan • Montenegro • Russia • Tirana • Mongolia 4 Sponsorship

Why are we looking for Sponsorship? The Mongol Rally is expensive; we’re doing it on the cheep and its still going to be expensive (As you would expect from driving 1/3 of the way around the world!). We are therefore looking for Sponsorship to ease the burden on our wallets slightly.

6 Why Sponsor Us?

Your logo on our car: The Mongol Rally is all about the car; it is our valiant steed and means to adventure. As such it will appear in the majority of our social media and website postings, with YOUR logo pride of place. We will be making 1-2 posting per week – dependent on Internet connectivity.

The other Rally Teams (over 300) will have plenty of opportunities to see our gloriously adorned vehicle, at the start, end, and when we’re broken down at the side of the road somewhere in between. There are of course also the inhabitants of the 20-something countries along our route who will see an over loaded Nissan Micra and wonder to themselves who is funding this madness. YOU! – That’s who.

Rights to our pictures: We will be passing through some amazing country. As in Holy Fu…. Cow beautiful, why wouldn’t you want a peace of that? Well you can select any picture from our gallery to call your own. You will have the rights to use the picture/s for any online posts (social media/blog/website) and any press releases (as long as you mention you are sponsoring our team and not the overall rally). Unfortunately the pictures can’t be used for advertising campaigns or product pages. 7 Place a Bet

Below is a list of the countries that are on our route… Fancy a gamble? Choose the one you think we will break down in first (on the Mongol Rally its not ‘if’ you break down, but ‘when’) and put £50 on it. Whoever wins will be announced as the winner on our social media and website pages, this will include a plug of your company or product. Upon our return you will also receive an A3 printed picture of team ‘Don’t Smell My Shoes’ trying to revive the Micra. Note – there is a limit of three bets per country.

• England • Kosovo • France • Macedonia • Belgium • Bulgaria • Netherlands • Turkey • Germany • Georgia • Czechia • Azergaijan • Slovakia • Turkmenistan • Austria • Uzbekistan • Hungary • Tajikistan • Croatia • Kyrgyzstan • Bosnia and Herzegovia • Kazakhstan • Montenegro • Russia • Tirana • Mongolia 8 Charities

Part of being a Mongol Rally Team is to Raise £1000 for charity. We thought this was too easy and so upped our target to £1500, so we could donate to more worthwhile causes. If you would like to donate please go to: uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Dontsmellmyshoes

The Charlie Waller Memorial Trust educates young people on the importance of staying mentally well and how to do so, as well as train teachers, doctors, employers and university staff to recognise when someone might be in trouble and offer vital first-line support.
