Norridgewock Annual Town Report The 2015 Town Report is dedicated to Gloria Frederick Gloria was born on June 7, 1942 in Hartland, Maine to Genie and Freddy Patterson. She grew up there with her four sisters and one brother. Upon completion of high school, she attended New Brunswick Bible Institute in Victoria Corner, New Brunswick, Canada. After graduating from college, Gloria returned to the area and went to work at Norrwock Shoe. It was there that she met her husband, Edward Frederick. They married in 1966. They raised three children in town. Edward and Gloria are very proud of their family, and enjoy spending quality time with them, their children’s spouses, and each of their five grandchildren. Alongside Edward, Gloria managed Frederick’s Dar-I-Whip, which was started by Edward in 1964. Together, they still own and operate the business. Edward and Gloria have given many area teenagers their first jobs, teaching them valuable life skills and welcoming them into the Dar-I-Whip family. For many young baseball and softball players, a trip up the road for a soft serve cone after a game is a tradition, one that has lasted for decades. Even though she was very busy with her family commitments and the Dar-I-Whip, Gloria has always found time to serve her community. She has served on the Board of Selectmen, the Planning Board, and the Board of Sewer Commissioners. Gloria is also a former Chamber of Commerce President here in town; in this position, she took great pride in helping to organize the annual Labor Day parade, as this event brought the town together in joyous celebration. Gloria also coordinated the Last Walk Across the Bridge on September 20, 2008, a well- attended and well-remembered event that celebrated the history of our town and its iconic arched bridge. Gloria is still actively serving her community as a member of the Budget Committee and as a member of the Library Trustees. 2 Town of Norridgewock Annual Town Report NORRIDGEWOCK BOARDS AND COMMITTEES FOR 2015 SELECTMEN AND OVERSEERS OF THE POOR Ronald Frederick, Chairman, Matthew Everett, Vice-Chairman, Charlotte Curtis, James Lyman, Sara Wilder BOARD OF TAX ASSESSORS Charlotte Curtis, Ronald Frederick, Sara Wilder TOWN MANAGER, TAX COLLECTOR, FINANCE DIRECTOR, ROAD COMMISSIONER, WELFARE DIRECTOR, CIVIL EMERGENCY DIRECTOR Michelle Flewelling (res.)
