CAST BIOS

JOHN LARROQUETTE (McBride) – Five-time Emmy® Award winner John Larroquette has starred in the television comedies “Night Court,” “The John Larroquette Show,” “Payne” and, most recently, “Happy Family.” He displayed his dramatic side with an Emmy winning guest-starring stint on “The Practice.” He co-starred in the miniseries “Tenth Kingdom” and starred in and executive produced the telefilm “One Special Victory.” Prior to tackling the role of cop-turned-attorney Mike McBride in “McBride,” Larroquette starred in the Hallmark Original Movie “Wedding Daze.”

Larroquette has had numerous memorable roles in feature films including “Blind Date,” “Summer Rental,” “Stripes,” “Choose Me,” “Star Trek III: The Search for Spock,” “Altered States,” “Cat People” and “Twilight Zone: The Movie.”

Born and raised in New Orleans, Larroquette was an only child who had studied music for 11 years by the time he was 17. He loved to write, considered entering the priesthood, had a talent for mimicry, and ultimately won a drama scholarship. Joining the Naval Reserve to satisfy his wanderlust, Larroquette always returned home to New Orleans, where he worked as an FM disc jockey.

Larroquette resides in Sun Valley with his wife and three children.

MARTA DUBOIS (Detective Sgt. Roberta Hansen) – Marta DuBois made her feature film debut in Tony Bill’s “Boulevard Nights,” which has become a cult classic within the Latino community. Most recently, she starred in the critically acclaimed indie hit “Luminarias.”

On television, DuBois has guest-starred in countless hit series including “L.A. Law,” “Matlock,” “Murder, She Wrote,” “Walker, Texas Ranger,” “The Division,” “King of Queens” and the daytime drama “Passions.” Most recognized for her recurring role as Tom Selleck’s wife Michelle in “Magnum, P.I.” and her charismatic turn as Ardra in “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” DuBois also starred in her own series, “Tales of the Gold Monkey,” as well as in various TV movies including “Grace Kelly” and “Johnnie Mae Gibson: FBI.”

DuBois’ stage credits include her critically acclaimed performance in ’s The Gingerbread Lady, Tom Topor’s Nuts, Paris Barclay’s musical One Red Flower – Letters from ‘Nam, Ed Begley, Jr.’s hit musical Cesar & Ruben, and Selena, A Celebration of Life. The multi-talented actress also performs in her own cabaret show A Musical Evening with Marta DuBois.

MATT LUTZ (Phil Newberry) – After garnering significant attention from his role as Clay Gephardt in the opening sequence to the feature film “A Walk to Remember,” Matt Lutz was cast by the movie’s director, Adam Shankman, in his next hit, “Bringing Down the House.”

Lutz recently returned from location in Central and South America where he filmed a pivotal role for the theatrical release “End of the Spear.” His numerous television credits include a recurring role on the hit teen drama “Dawson’s Creek,” “7th Heaven,” “Boston Public,” “Las Vegas,” the TV movie “Amy & Isabelle,” and the Hallmark Original Movie “Murder Without Conviction.”

Among Lutz’s myriad theater credits are leading roles in The Who’s Tommy, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Glass Menagerie, Oliver!, and, most recently, The Most Happy Fella with The Actors Co-op in Hollywood, California.

KUMA (Jesse) – Kuma Von Clifford is a mixed breed dog, most likely a Labrador/Husky cross. He was rescued from the South Central (Los Angeles) Animal Shelter on March 9th, 2002 by animal trainer Sarah Clifford and is estimated to be three years old.

Kuma has performed tricks at several charity events, appeared in two infomercials, and was runner-up in the “Americas Top Dog” TV special, chosen out of a field of 500 hopefuls to compete in a variety of physical and mental challenges.

In addition to his role in “McBride,” Kuma was also seen opposite Chad Lowe in the Hallmark Original Movie “Fielders Choice” and will also be in ’s “Spring Thaw.”

Nicholas “Nick” Turturro (Officer Kyle Pierce) – A native New Yorker, Nick Turturro is probably best known for his role as Detective James Martinez on seven seasons of “NYPD Blue.” Turturro was working as a hotel doorman when his famous older brother, John introduced him to Spike Lee, a meeting that changed everything.

Lee cast the rough-edged Turturro as an extra and voice-over artist for “Do the Right Thing.” Then he wrote a feature role for Turturro in “Mo’ Better Blues,” playing opposite his brother John, as Jewish brothers and club co-owners and then again cast the pair in “Jungle Fever.” Nick also starred in Lee’s “Malcolm X.”

Turturro’s other television credits include numerous guest-starring roles in “Law and Order,” “L.A. Law,” “The (New) Twilight Zone” and “The Drew Carey Show” and a recurring role in “Third Watch.”

On stage, Turturro has appeared in Wild Goose, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, with his brother John, Lusting After Popino’s Wife and Siddown: Conversations With the Mob.

Turturro and his brother are not the only two in the family business, their cousin Aida Turturro stars in the “Sopranos.”

Barbara Niven (Claire Whitman) - A native of Portland, Oregon, Barbara Niven appeared in more than 2,500 radio and television commercials and served as spokesperson for a number of companies before landing her first dramatic role, opposite and in the Emmy®-winning telefilm “The Promise.”

A regular on the daytime drama “,” Niven also had a recurring role in “The Bold and the Beautiful” and the syndicated series “Pensacola: Wings of Gold.” Among her numerous other television credits are recent guest-starring roles in “Cold Case” and “Las Vegas.” Her TV movies include “The Perfect Neighbor,” “Breast Men,” “I Married a Monster,” and “Tiger Cruise.” She has appeared in the motion pictures “Chasing Ghosts,” “The Drone Virus” and the independent feature “Anoosh of the Airways,” playing eight different wacky characters.

Niven is a single mom whose Web site features the Dreamers Network – to help people get the courage to make their dreams come true and an Eating Disorders/Cutters message board where people can start getting help. "Every day I hear from someone who says it has made a difference. It doesn’t get much better than that."
