Introduction: The seminar is aimed to cover Maharashtra’s effort of conservation, security, budgeting, recycling and reuse of water, artificial recharge in , techniques and groundwater management (Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan)

Water, Ecosystems and Human Development. The session will present this theme from inspirational and thoughtful angles. Invited speakers will share their views on the critical role that water plays for the functioning of our ecosystems – the very basis of our existence. Their ideas will highlight the crucial role that water plays in infrastructure development, economic development and overall well-being.

• Best Practices and continuous learning o Specific challenges and approaches in water stressed regions (rural and urban) and the role currently played by technology o Recommendations to foster a dialogue between policymakers, stakeholders and the scientific community to create a mechanism of integrated governance o Science-based decision making for water-intensive projects and policies across sectors, scales, and institutions.

• Corporate water stewardship (A Case Study): This segment describes successful approaches that have allowed for companies to identify and manage water-related business risks, understand and mitigate their adverse impacts on ecosystems and communities, and contribute to and enable sustainable management of shared freshwater

• Partnerships to build robust systems of & : Summarizes the overall challenges and discusses key learnings. The key role of public private partnerships are highlighted and a viable sustainability roadmap is drawn up for the state that leverages technology to improve the performance and financial sustainability of the water sector
