    Embargoed till 19 September 2010, 6pm PRESS RELEASE 13 September 2010 EMBARGOED TILL 19 SEPTEMBER 2010, 6PM Recognising School Achievements in 2010 Three schools are awarded both the pinnacle School Excellence Award for educational excellence and the Best Practice Award for Student All Round Development for holistic development of their students under the Ministry of Education (MOE) Masterplan of Awards (MoA)1 2010. The three schools are St. Hilda’s Primary, Chung Cheng High (Main) and Dunman Secondary. In addition to the two awards, Dunman Secondary is also conferred the Outstanding Development Award for Character Development this year.     SPEECH BY MS SIM ANN, SENIOR MINISTER OF STATE, MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION (MCI) AT THE MCI COMMITTEE OF SUPPLY DEBATE, 2 MARCH 2021 Introduction 1. The past year has been challenging, to say the least, and we have all come to value the importance of staying connected. Digitalisation has been critical in enabling us to do so, even as we adopt safe distancing measures. We are transforming digitally as a society, but we need to ensure that the transformation is inclusive. 2. I will elaborate on four key strategies to achieve this: (a) First, we know not all Singaporeans are progressing at the same pace in the digital journey. Regardless of your starting point, the Government and key stakeholders will support you with the necessary resources. (b) Second, we will forge strong partnerships with stakeholders. (c) Third, we will continue to improve our last-mile delivery infrastructure. (d) Fourth, we will strengthen our communication efforts, making trusted information accessible to all. Supporting fellow Singaporeans to go digital 3. Let me address how we will approach inclusive digitalisation, starting with small businesses, as asked by Ms Tin Pei Ling, Mr Sharael Taha and Mr Cheng Hsing Yao. 4. We stepped up efforts to help small companies, including mom-and-pop HDB shops, to adopt simple digital solutions through the Heartlands Go Digital initiative. MOS Low Yen Ling and I co-chair the Heartland Digitalisation and Revitalisation Committee, and she had earlier spoken on how the Committee is helping heartland enterprises keep pace with digitalisation, taking into account their unique context.

    Message from Chairman, National St John Council Annual Report 2014 2014 has been a busy and activities filled year for St. John Singapore. We were elevated to a Priory status on 11th January 2014 at a solemn typically English traditional ceremony in the British High Commission and officiated by the Lord Prior, Prof Anthony Mellows. The ceremony was also attended and blessed by our Spiritual Counsellors of the 4 major faiths – Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Christianity. As a Priory, Singapore St. John plays a more important role now in the Order of St. John. As a Prior, I am now a member of the Grand Council, the Governing Body of the Order of St. John. Singapore now plays a role in charting the worldwide activities of the St. John movement through the Grand Council. New members were invited (as part of the rejuvenation process) and have joined the National St. John Council, Singapore in 2014. Within a year, North West CDC received an overwhelming response of 14,000 volunteers participating in our activities. In line with North West CDC advocacy of a Green North West Community, 2017 saw over 8,000 volunteers participating in our green initiatives, the highest volunteer involvement among all our programmes. 2 Of which, 4,000 volunteers took part in our Reduce @ North West to raise awareness on reducing water and energy wastage through house visits. Collectively with other schools, the programme saved up to 88,400kWh energy, equivalent to power up 340 three-room flats for a month. 1 3 To recognise and celebrate the dedication and commitment of our volunteers from 5 categories, including, North West We Care Awards, North West Healthy Living Champion Award, North West Outstanding All Rounder Student Award, North West Outstanding School Partners Award and People’s Association Community Award, the North West Volunteers’ Awards 2018 will be held on 17 March 2018 at Nanyang Polytechnic Auditorium. 131 recipients will be receiving awards on that day.
