It’s been a year of both triumph and, unfortunately, tragedy and in this issue we take time out to remember María de Villota, whose passing in October left a deep void not just in motor sport but in all our hearts. María’s bravery following her F1 testing accident and the dedication she displayed afterwards – not only in promoting female involvement in motor sport but also safety on the road and track – will be missed. Elsewhere, it was a year of great success for women competitors and in this edition we look at Lucile Cypriano’s victory in the VW and commission-supported shoot-out for a place in next year’s VW Scirocco R-Cup and reveal how the FIA European Rallycross Championship has become a haven for female racers. It’s been a great year for CONTACTS: women in all forms of motor sport and IF YOU HAVE ANY COMMENTS ABOUT THIS NEWSLETTER OR we look forward to even more in 2014! STORIES FOR THE NEXT ISSUE, WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.

  • Twists and Turns of Corsica up Next for TOYOTA GAZOO Racing
March 31, 2017 Toyota Motor Corporation Motorsport Marketing Division Tour de Corse: Preview Twists and turns of Corsica up next for TOYOTA GAZOO Racing TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team and its drivers, Jari-Matti Latvala and Juho Hänninen head to the island of Corsica for round four of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) from April 6 to 9. The classic Tour de Corse is Franceʼs round of the WRC and the first pure asphalt event of the season, following the ice-coated roads of Monte-Carlo, snow of Sweden and gravel of Mexico. Learning and developing the Yaris WRC remains the clear priority in the first season of Toyotaʼs WRC return, despite an extremely positive start with the team currently second in both the manufacturersʼ and driversʼ standings. Yaris WRC test An event that returned to the calendar in 2015 after six years away, the Tour de Corse is famous for its narrow and twisty asphalt stages, which give it the nickname ʻThe Rally of 10,000 Cornersʼ. With mountainous stages lined by rock faces on one side and steep drops on the other, as well as numerous surface changes, there is plenty to catch drivers out. Abrasive asphalt and long stages also mean that tyre wear is a factor. The rally is based in Bastia but will begin in the islandʼs capital Ajaccio on Friday April 7, with the dayʼs action consisting of two loops of two stages, averaging 30 kilometres each, which are run twice. There is no full midday service; instead just a change of tyres.

Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (F/F) were crowned World Rally Champions for the fourth time in a row after taking victory at the Rally Spain. They guided their Volkswagen Polo R WRC to a fifth win of the season in Catalonia, finishing ahead of Dani Sordo/Marc Martí (E/E, Hyundai) und Thierry Neuville/Nicolas Gilsoul (B/B, Hyundai). Their ninth podium in eleven races triggered wild celebrations. The Frenchmen can no longer be caught at the top of the overall standings in the 2016 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). Team-mates Andreas Mikkelsen/Anders Jæger (N/N) went into the Rally Spain as their closest rivals in the title race, but the Norwegians’ hopes of winning the championship were dashed when they were forced to retire from the rally. Eighth place in the Manufacturers’ classifications for Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila (FIN/FIN) means Volkswagen is well- placed to claim its fourth Manufacturers’ title in a row next time out at the Rally Great Britain. • Volkswagens Segerrad Bröts I Rally Argentina

MEDIA INFORMATION Alghero, June 14, 2015 2015 FIA World Rally Championship RALLY ITALIA SARDEGNA The MICHELIN LTX Force H4 and S4 tyres prove a match for Rally Italia Sardegna’s new stages Round six of the 2015 FIA World Rally Championship ended today in Alghero, northwest Sardinia, after almost 400 kilometres of competitive action and 1,100km of road sections. Saturday’s menu made it the longest single leg of the season with 212.3km stages and more than 15 hours of driving in the course of the day! The route was extensively modified compared with last year’s itinerary and the WRC runners faced a cocktail of narrow, tree-lined stages and a relatively hard-wearing surface including hard-to-spot half-buried rocks and sharp loose stones. This combination put the strength of the hard-compound (H4) and soft-compound (S4) version of MICHELIN LTX Force to a tough test over the event’s 23 timed tests. Additional challenges for the drivers, cars and tyres were the deep ruts that were carved out by the rain storms which swept over the Mediterranean island prior to the start, prompting the teams to adjust the ride-heights of the respective machines on occasions. Said Jacques MORELLI, manager of Michelin’s FIA World Rally Championship programme: “This year’s Rally Italia Sardegna was a tough event but our MICHELIN LTX Force H4 and S4 tyres provided further evidence of their strength and performance potential. The early part of the rally was marked by drizzle which formed a slippery top coating on the stages.

The Hagfors Strategy 2017-2027 I think that we need to face the truth, face the problems and challenges of our municipality, to objectively identify the negative burdens that we carry but without rolling around in the dirt then we need to build from scratch, we need to build together, because it doesn’t matter how much our population grows if we don’t start by changing our very foundation, increasing our self-esteem because without it our visions have no geographic affiliation, it is about daring to listen to our own voice and believing in what we hold closest to our hearts, we can have a happy and fulfilling life even if we live in a small town, it is all about gaining perspective on things, about our own will to grow as a person, about talking to others, getting organised, joining forces, creating networks, supporting ideas and taking our chances to hit the jackpot in the game which time and time again offers us all chances to win if you time and time again reel off comments like the people at the Municipality they don’t have a clue you are forgetting an important thing, it is we, all of us, who are the municipality! civil servants and private individuals, entrepreneurs or unemployed, young and old, immigrant or native, we are the municipality, therefore we all have a responsibility to make an effort for the place where we live and the tools we have are our attitudes, our ideas, our community and our courage to believe that we matter but it is not enough to find comfort in this statement, find comfort behind well-intended ignorance,
