Real Colegio Complutense Real Colegio Complutense Call for Graduate Scholarships at Harvard University Academic Year 2018 / 2019 In accordance with articles II and IV of Real Colegio Complutense’s General Establishment Agreement, its Academic Council decided to open the following call for Graduate Scholarships at Harvard University for the academic year 2018 / 2019, starting from September 1. 1. PURPOSE This call for Graduate Scholarships at Harvard University is addressed to Spanish graduates (licenciados, ingenieros, arquitectos, graduados, master) who enroll in one of the Graduate Programs at Harvard University in order to complete their studies. Preference is given to students who have attended one of the RCC Partner Universities. 2. SCOPE The following call offers graduate scholarships for the academic year 2018 / 2019 in any fields included in the graduate programs of the Harvard schools and departments that allow one to obtain a doctorate or master’s degree. 3. COVERAGE 3.1. The scholarships are awarded for one year or one semester depending on the financial status of the student. The Committee on General Scholarships at Harvard University and the RCC will determine the amount of the award, which can be used to cover tuition fees, health insurance, lodging and basic costs. The awardee will have to find his/her own accommodations. If needed, students will have to apply for an extension of the scholarship every academic year until they have completed their studies. 3.2. In the case that the scholarship covers all annual expenses calculated by Harvard University, it will not be compatible with any other type of income or scholarship for the same studies. If it does not cover the total amount of these expenses, it can be combined with any other scholarship or funding, as long as it is compatible with the basis of this scholarship. Please note that you must notify the RCC and the Committee on General Scholarships at Harvard University of this case. 4. REQUIREMENTS 4.1. Spanish graduates (licenciados, ingenieros, arquitectos, graduados, master) who enroll in one of the Graduate Programs at Harvard University in order to complete their studies can apply for our Graduate Scholarship. Preference is given to students who hold a degree from one of the RCC University Partners. 4.2. In order to receive this scholarship, it is a necessary condition to have been admitted to a graduate program at one of Harvard University's schools or departments. This admission can be obtained by submitting all required documents (online or personally) to the corresponding center or office. Please do not forget to submit a copy of these documents by email to the RCC as well. In the case that you have not received a response regarding your application from Harvard University by the time you are applying for our Graduate Scholarship, you must keep in mind that the awarding of our scholarship depends on this condition. A denial from Harvard University means you are not eligible for this scholarship. 4.3. The consent of this Graduate Scholarship implies a commitment to the acceptance of all obligations mentioned in point 8 of this call. 4.4. The application and annexes have to be submitted online through the RCC's website, as well as by email to [email protected] by March 31, 11:59 pm, 2018. Only those applications which fulfill all requirements will be considered. 5. DOCUMENTS 5.1. Letter to the Director of the RCC, using the enclosed template Annex I. 5.2. Curriculum Vitae according to the format required by the program of Harvard University you have applied to. 5.3. Complete copy of the application for admission to a graduate program you submitted to the school or department at Harvard University you want to attend, including the "Statement of Purpose". 5.4. Certificate of English language knowledge, TOEFL iBT, with a minimum result of 100 points. In the case you do not have this certificate available by the time you are applying for our Graduate Scholarship, you must prove that you have taken the exam and submit the results afterwards in order to be eligible. 5.5. Copy of the letter of acceptance to the graduate program at Harvard University. In the case that you have not received the letter at the time of applying for the Graduate Scholarship, you must declare so, as this is a necessary requirement to be awarded with the scholarship. 5.6. Copy of the "Fellowship Information Form” you submitted to the Committee on General Scholarships at Harvard University. 6. SELECTION CRITERIA The Academic Council of the RCC will hear the opinion of the Committee on General Scholarships at Harvard University on the applications and will evaluate the candidates’ academic merits and financial needs. If considered necessary, some of the candidates might be asked for an interview with appropriate prior notification. The final decision of the Academic Council will be notified directly to the recipient and will not be subject to appeal. 7. RENEWAL OF SCHOLARSHIPS Candidates who received the scholarship during the academic year 2017/18 and would like to apply for a renewal, should submit the following documents before April 1, 2018 to the Committee on General Scholarships at Harvard University and the RCC ([email protected]): 7.1. Application for renewal of the scholarship, in the form of a letter to the Director of the RCC, stating any changes in their financial situation for the academic year 2018/19 compared to the past academic year (if applicable). 7.2. Written approval from the supervisor at Harvard University. 7.3. Copy of all exam grades received in the first semester of the academic year 2017/18. 8. OBLIGATIONS 8.1. Immediately notify the RCC of any grant, scholarship or funding from any public or private organizations for the same graduate studies, and return any funds received that are incompatible with the restrictions of the scholarship. 8.2. Complete the graduate studies for which this scholarship has been granted and obtain the program's degree. 8.3. Submit a report in English, demonstrating all work performed or subjects studied at Harvard University during this scholarship, at least two weeks before receiving the last monthly payment to the following email: [email protected] 8.4. Promote and participate in at least one RCC activity and one RCC project during the period of their Fellowships. Among others, these activities and projects may include activities to strengthen the RCC (conferences, seminars, cultural cycles, study groups set-up, etc.) under the guidance of the Director of the center and the RCC Academic Council members. 8.5. Make noticeable mention in any publication, lecture, presentation or interview of their status as a Fellow of the RCC that may be made during the time of their stay. 8.6. Apply for renewal of the scholarship, in case the studies exceed the period of one year, in accordance with the regulations of the corresponding call. It traveled from the municipal cemetery of Sahagún, where it had been reused as the tombstone of a local townsman, sailing across the Atlantic to the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard, and then returning to Spain to become a stellar exhibit in the recently renovated National Archaeological Museum in Madrid. Each of these photographs records a unique intersubjective encounter between the figures carved on the lid, especially Alfonso’s marble embodiment, represented in the mo- ment of his glorious resurrection following classical models of the myth of Endymion, and the persons on the other side of the lens. Notable among them were the art historian Ricardo de Orueta, who was Director General of Fine Arts in the government of the Spanish Republic, and the eminent Harvard medievalist Arthur Kingsley Porter. In addition, the ongoing work of the Marshal’s Office supports the University’s goal of sustaining and enhancing the University’s international ties by serving as the point of contact to: - Provide coordination and support for members of the University community who wish to invite heads of state, high-level officials, or dignitaries to Harvard; - Arrange appointments with faculty and/or administrators for internationals to learn about academic programs and/or administrative operations; - Identify members of the University community, typically faculty or alumni, to serve as delegates representing Harvard at other institutions’ ceremonial functions; - Advise on matters of protocol and serving as a resource for information about Harvard history, tradition, and ceremony. Distinguished Visitors In the 2013-2014 academic year, an array of distinguished visitors and delegations came to Harvard University, including presidents and prime ministers from Colombia, Ecuador, Norway and Turkey. A complete list of recent visitors appears in Appendix B. Harvard regularly hosts visitors of many different nationalities, backgrounds, and beliefs; and, in doing so, encourages intellectual and educational enrichment while also honoring the principles of free speech and open inquiry.
