  • Ipad for Igen
iPad for iGen By [email protected] Intro: Each day we seem to awaken to a world of new technology. We live in such an amazing electronic age - as this column has documented often, we can do more genealogy research in a week at the computer than our ancestors of only a few decades ago could do in years. Now, is the iPad one of these electronic devices that can serve you well in your genealogical research? This column has previously explored new innovations, and this issue looks at the Apple iPad. When I went to Colorado last October and visited a friend who is a former Marine, he had an Apple iPad that he allowed me to play with - and I was hooked! I had to get my own! I know, I know, this column is usually for PCs, however - this Apple iPad is really fun! I think almost anyone would derive considerable enjoyment from it, as it provides another type of interface to the Internet, plus a platform for reading, playing games, doing research. What practical applications are there for the genealogist? We explore the question, and provide an overview of what an iPad is and what one can expect from it or similar devices. Both Grant and Duchene were trying to identify what changes, if any, they should make to BXE’s portfolio. “Apple is investing in its next generation of products, potentially the first new major product lines since Tim Cook took over from Steve Jobs,” she said. Apple Inc., the world’s largest company by market capitalization, had introduced a series of consumer products during the past dozen years that had transformed it into the industry leader in consumer devices.

The Forensics idiosyncracies of this new portable device and the kind of data it may store open new IPad opportunities in the field of computer forensics. Given that its design, both internal and Cybercrime Digital investigation external, is very similar to the iPhone, the current easiest way to obtain a forensic image is Apple to install an SSH server and some tools, dump its internal storage and transfer it to a remote host via wireless networking. This approach may require up to 20 hours. In this paper, we present a novel approach that takes advantage of an undocumented feature so that it is possible to use a cheap iPad accessory, the Camera Connection Kit, to image the disk to an external hard drive attached via USB connection, greatly reducing the required time. • A STUDY of MODERN MOBILE TABLETS by Jordan Kahtava A
A STUDY OF MODERN MOBILE TABLETS By Jordan Kahtava A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree Bachelor of Computer Science Algoma University Gerry Davies, Thesis Advisor April 14th, 2016 A Study of Modern Mobile Tablets - 1 Abstract Mobile tablets have begun playing a larger role in mobile computing because of their portability. To gather an understanding of what mobile computers can currently accomplish Microsoft and Apple tablets were examined. In general this topic is very broad and hard to research because of the number of mobile devices and tablets. Examining this document should provide detailed insight into mobile tablets and their hardware, operating systems, and programming environment. Any developer can use the information to develop, publish, and setup the appropriate development environments for either Apple or Microsoft. The Incremental waterfall methodology was used to develop two applications that utilize the Accelerometer, Gyroscope, and Inclinometer/Attitude sensors. In addition extensive research was conducted and combined to outline how applications can be published and the rules associated with each application store. The Apple application used Xcode and Objective-C while the Microsoft application used Visual Studio 2012, C-Sharp, and XAML. It was determined that developing for Apple is significantly easier because of the extensive documentation and examples available. In addition Apple’s IDE Xcode can be used to develop, design, test, and publish applications without the need for other programs. It is hard to find easily understandable documentation from Microsoft regarding a particular operating system. Visual Studio 2012 or later must be used to develop Microsoft Store applications.

iPad FCC Teardown Guide ID: 2197 - Draft: 2019-05-14 iPad FCC Teardown An pre-release peek inside the iPad was provided by some photos we uncovered on the FCC's servers. Written By: Chris Cline This document was generated on 2020-11-17 08:09:24 AM (MST). © iFixit — CC BY-NC-SA www.iFixit.com Page 1 of 17 iPad FCC Teardown Guide ID: 2197 - Draft: 2019-05-14 INTRODUCTION Update 4/3 We have taken apart a production iPad, with much higher resolution photos. FCC Photo Analysis The FCC was kind enough to show the internals of the WiFi iPad before it was released! The photos that they put up had the interesting bits hidden behind grey squares, but we were able to extract the raw files! The WiFi iPad is officially Apple model A1219, while the 3G iPad is A1337. Apple requested this information stay concealed until August 17th. Clearly, the FCC ignored them. Note: This is not a traditional iFixit teardown. These photos are not up to our normal quality standards, and it's quite difficult to perform analysis on the low-resolution files. We will be doing a real teardown of the iPad on April 3, the moment we get our pre-ordered units. Update: 3G iPad We have uncovered internal photos of the 3G iPad, which won't be released for at least a month! Starting at step 14. Just want the highlights? Stay tuned to @ifixit for news as we unveil it. This document was generated on 2020-11-17 08:09:24 AM (MST).
