SCHOOL PROFILES International School of Dongguan Guangzhou, Guangdong, China ABOUT ISD Located in Southern China in an urban setting, the International School of Dongguan (ISD) serves Pre-K -Grade 12 students. As an international school, the staff at ISD are committed to fostering the Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs) with an emphasis on encouraging students to communicate effectively, demonstrate personal management, work collaboratively, be complex thinkers, and become global citizens. MISSION ISD provides a rigorous well-rounded education while fostering the unique gifts and aspirations of each child. 2018-19 ISD BY THE NUMBERS Student Enrollment: 347 | Countries represented: 32 | Teacher-Student Ratio: 1:6 | Faculty: 60 ACCREDITATION AND ACADEMIC PROGRAMS ISD is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and by the National Center for School Curriculum and Textbook Development (NCCT) of the Ministry of Education of China. ISD offers a curriculum based on current practices and trends in Western countries with adjustments to meet the unique situations of students in China. ISD is authorized to deliver the International Baccalaureate Program (IB) for students in Grades 11 and 12. FACULTY 75%+ of the ISD educators have more than 5 years of experience teaching. All faculty members hold a bachelor degree, and more than half hold a masters degree or higher. CAMPUS AND FACILITIES ISD is a 12,000 square meter educational facility atop 30,000 square meters or almost 8.5 acres. The campus houses 50 classrooms within four floors. The 5th floor has an additional 6 classrooms and a conference room. The campus has facilities for the arts, sciences, sports and technology. Special subjects including music, art, PE, drama, and an additional language enrich and extend student learning. With over 70 extracurricular optoins, ISD encourages students to develop and thrive through opportunities like:. • School Counseling: School counselors help every student improve academic achievement, personal and social development, and career planning. • After School Activities: The After School Activities (ASA) at ISD offers an array of optional extracurricular activities for students from grades K-12, including programs like Robotics, Painting, Physics Club, Kendo, Flower Arrangements, Drumming, Cooking, Tennis, Baseball, and more. • Athletics: ISD is committed to fostering student athletic talent in both our physical education classes and extended day programs. • Visual Arts: Visual arts are an essential part of the ISD’s curriculum with an emphasis for offering a balanced and broad programme that fosters innovation, creativity, self-expression, and confidence • Music: The ISD Music Program follows the National Association for Music Education’s Music Standards.
