U14A fall to Hellenic This week we hosted Hellenic Academy in a T/20 test match. Hellenic won the toss and elected to bat first. Saints bowled well with Hellenic only posting 133 runs for the loss of two wickets. . The peak of the bowlers was T Mangena who bowled 3 overs that went for 2runs and T Magaya 3 overs 1 wicket for 9runs. Saints went in to bat with a defensive approach. This was not good for us as we did not capitalise in the power play, only to finish our allotted 20 overs on 106 for 7. Magaya was the top scorer with 29 runs. We lost the first inning by 27runs. In the 2nd innings Saints once again displayed some good bowling and fielding. T Mangena again was the pick of the bowlers with the best bowl- ing figures in his 3overs taking 3 wickets for 6 runs, with the good support from B Raynars, who bowled 2 overs and took 2 wickets for 14runs. Hellenic posted 120 for 9 in their 20 overs. This left Saint needing 148 runs to win the game. This time around we started with a good approach rotating strike and getting some boundaries. The boys were still in the defensive mode not backing themselves on bad balls. T Magaya once again stepped up in the middle order scoring 24 runs. We only managed to get 112 runs in our 20 overs, losing the game by 36runs. A good effort by the boys getting over 100 in both innings. The boys should back themselves more and be positive on the bad balls to get more runs on the board. Looking forward to the next match as the boys are showing signs of improvement every game.
