CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL EXAMINATIONS LEARNER AWARDS FOR 2015 While the first term was successful in many regards, the Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards for 2015 were an icing on the cake. We are proud of the wonderful news we received that, two of our outstanding students scooped some awards as follows: IGCSE 2015 RESULTS Best student in Zimbabwe for Business Studies – Kimberly Mukumbi Best student in Zimbabwe for Information Communication Technology – Munyaradzi Marazanye Best student in Zimbabwe for Accounting – Munyaradzi Marazanye Best student in Zimbabwe for Chemistry – Munyaradzi Marazanye. Best student in Zimbabwe for Computer Science – Munyaradzi Marazanye. Best IGCSE student in Zimbabwe for November 2015 examinations – Munyaradzi Marazanye Congratulations, makorokoto, amhlope to our students and their respective teachers (Mrs Chiunda, Mrs Nyamajiwa, Mr Daka and Mr Mr Moyo) “Goldridge our school, we are proud of it”. NATIONAL ALLIED ARTS MUSICAL COMPETITIONS 2016 It is not only in the academic arena that we achieved great results. In the National Institute of Allied Arts – Vocal and Instrumental Competitions our school choir was awarded a first class. Congratulations to the teachers and students for the achievement. The following groups and individuals also did very well in the Competitions: Honours Marimba Junior Ensemble made up of Fountain By-Faith Vezha, Zephnath Chakauya, Tonderai Mapwashike, Melusi Gumbo, Brandon Banda and Munashe Fundira Marimba Intermediate Beginners made up of Brandon Muchenje, Moreblessing Mahaso, Vimbai Zhanje, Esther Butao, Joseph Issa and Kuzivaishe Mlilwana. Western Contemporary SPORTS (a) Cricket We congratulate the following students who were selected into the respective Midlands teams: Under 14 Tadiwa Banda Under 16 Tinomuda Chitoro Takunda Gumbie Neel Harry Under 18 Shailan Patel Brandon Banda (b) Athletics The athletics season ended with the Interschools Athletics Competitions held at Lomagundi College where the following schools took part; MCC, Kyle College, Arundel School, Chisipite Senior School, Hellenic Academy, Peterhouse Boys, Peterhouse Girls, Falcon College and Prince Edward. We do however, wish that more parents would attend such events in future. It really makes a difference! Term Two Sports Our sports for second term are Hockey, Rugby, Girls Basketball, Soccer and Netball. All students are expected to select at least one sporting discipline. Parents are expected to acquire equipment and attire for the sporting discipline their child will be taking part in. SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE FUNDRAISNG ACTIVITIES The School Development Committee started the construction of change rooms/pavilion for the swimming pool. In order for the project to be a success we all need to offer maximum support in all fundraising initiatives. The major fundraising activity for first term is the Easter Hamper Raffle whose draw will be conducted at the beginning of Second term 2016. We appeal to all parents to remind their children to return the Easter Hamper raffle sheets and the money that was raised. In the second term, fundraising will be done through the Winter Warmer Raffle and the Sponsored Walk and Fun Day. All pupils were given sponsored walk sheets to enable parents to assist in looking for sponsorship. Each child is expected to raise a minimum of $40. We thank you in advance for your support.
