PLAYER SPOTLIGHT

Anders Lee was selected with the 151st overall pick in the 6th Round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, but would spend the next few years playing hockey at the collegiate level for the University of Notre Dame.

On April 2, 2013, Lee appeared in his first game with the Isles against the . His impact was felt immediately, as he scored in the opening period of his NHL debut—a sign of many amazing things to come! It was only a short time before Anders became a regular scoring threat within the Isles lineup. Playing on a line with , Lee scored 34 goals throughout the 2016-17 regular season. UNBELIEVABLE!

FANtastic FACT At the conclusion of the season, Anders was presented the Award for his display of leadership, dedication, and hustle.

Lee followed up his career season with another, leading the team with a 40- campaign in the 2017-18 season.

The Islanders named the 15th Captain in the history of the organization on October 4, 2018. This awesome honor was the payoff point of a career display of grit, determination, and a “lead by example” output.

Off the ice, the Captain has raised over $300,000 for childhood cancer- related initiatives through his Jam Kancer in the Kan events. To honor a fallen inspiration of his, Anders has also established the Fenov Pierre- Louis Memorial Scholarship, which he awards to high school seniors.

The team rewarded their Captain for his leadership on and off the ice with a seven-year contract extension in the summer of 2019.

CONGRATULATIONS, NUMBER 27!

THANK YOU As we enter the summer months, this will be the final Kids Club Newsletter of the 2019-20 season. On behalf of the New York Islanders organization, we’re sending all of our Kids Club members a great big thank you for being an awesome member this past season. We are one big family united by our love for the exciting game of hockey. Without your “Yes!” chants and screams of “Let’s Go Islanders,” we do not succeed as a team. Although we may not be there in person to support our favorite players in Blue and Orange during the upcoming Playoffs, they will be counting on you to keep up your cheering from home! Last but not least, your Kids Club membership included an invite to an exclusive members-only event. We still plan on hosting this event when it is safe to do so again. Please keep an eye out for an invitation later this summer, as well as an invitation to rejoin the Kids Club for the 2020-21 season. We can’t wait to have you back again in our super cool member family!
