High Speed Two (HS2) has the potential to transform the economy of Leeds and Leeds City Region. However we will not realise the full benefits of HS2 unless we have a coherent and proactive plan for doing so. HS2 is part of a coherent strategy for rail improvements for the Leeds City Region, which includes upgrades of existing routes and services, and Northern Powerhouse Rail, a new fast east-west rail route across the North. 2. Improving and expanding Leeds Station is essential to ensure HS2 is integrated seamlessly with other rail services to create new rail capacity to support growth in Leeds, and to provide a high quality gateway to, and catalyst for, regeneration in the city. This paper seeks approval to the emerging proposals for a long term masterplan for Leeds Station. 3. Bus Services in York – UCI World Championships 2019 Buses across the region will disrupted by the UCI World Championships over the week 21–29 September 2019. There may be additional delays caused by heavy traffic and residual congestion in the areas where the race is taking place. Saturday 21 September Route: Beverley, Market Weighton, Riccall, Cawood, Tadcaster, Wetherby, Knaresborough, Ripley, Harrogate Arriva Yorkshire 42 Delays likely between 1100 and 1400 due to road closures around Cawood. 415 Major delays likely between 1100 and 1400 due to road closures around Riccall. Coastliner 840/843 Between 0800 and 1800, buses will not be able to call at stops along York Road or the bus station. Between 1100 and 1430, some buses may not call at Tadcaster at all. Connexions X1 Between 1000 and 1700, buses will divert via Forest Head, Calcutt and Windsor Drive to Aspin. No service to Knaresborough town centre or St James Retail Park at these times. X70 Between 1000 and 1630, buses will run between Harrogate and Plompton Rocks or Follifoot only: http://www.connexionsbuses.com/uncategorized/service-x70-timetable-for-21st-september-only/ 412 All services cancelled East Yorkshire 18 The 1220 from York will wait at North Duffield until the race has passed. This may also cause a delay to the bus that leaves HOSM at 1320. 45/46 The 1020 from York will terminate at Shiptonthorpe and will not call at Market Weighton or HOSM. The 1120 from York will divert from Shiptonthorpe via A614 and will not call at Market Weighton. The 1137 from HOSM will start from Shiptonthorpe, and will not call at HOSM or Market Weighton. -

December 2009 3 Back to the floor MEETING and exceeding customers’ expectations is a priority at Arriva and National Customer Service Week (NCSW) provided the perfect opportunity to demonstrate this. Highlighting how important good customer care is for the business was just one of the benefits of NCSW, which was held from 5-9 October. It was also a chance for Arriva’s excellent customer service to shine. It was the first time Arriva had taken part in the national event and the newly centralised customer service team at Aintree and Luton used Customer service advisor Steve Byrne with operations manager Mark Brack. the occasion to organise a range of events and activities. Cross-team quizzes, a dress-down day at Aintree and a colour-themed day at Luton were just a few of the highlights. The Institute of Customer Service visited Luton, and managers from across the business went “back to the floor”. Feedback In Glasgow, Leeds, Middlesbrough, Wakefield and Whitby managers and directors joined passengers on Arriva’s buses to get face-to-face feedback. Managers and directors also took to the phones to listen to what customers had to say. Mark Brack, operations manager at Arriva North West’s St Helens’ garage, was just one of the managers who went “back to the floor” and says he found it to be a very helpful and interesting experience. Mark spent several hours with customer service advisor Steve Byrne at Aintree and was impressed with the professionalism of the team. Tracker Survey The subcommittee was provided with a presentation outlining the findings of the annual West Yorkshire Tracker Survey, followed by questions and a discussion covering the following: District specific data is not published as the sample size is too small to accurately draw Kirklees district-specific data and conclusions, though this will be considered in future, resources permitting. The level of satisfaction with the quality of the roads was challenged – it was not the experience of the members or the feedback they have received. -
