Biography / Administrative History Jonathan Eubanks (1927- ) is a documentary and portrait photographer from Oakland, California recognized for his work with the Black Panther Party. He followed the party and their leaders, documenting their lives and activities, including rallies to free the party leader Huey Newton after his arrest for allegedly killing an Oakland police officer. Eubanks’ has had a distinguished career as a photojournalist and documentary and portrait photographer and his work has been published in various books, including studies of traditional arts and folk life in Oakland, California.
