MARY HIGH SCHOOL * VOLUME XL * ISSUE 5 * FEBRUARY 2011 Valentine’s Day came early for the stu- dents at STVM this year, as the school held the first annual Winter Sweetheart Dance on Saturday, February 5. This Winter Dance was held in the main gym and Student Center. The Student Council and Director of Special Events, Mrs. Jennifer Ringer, transformed the school into a winter silvery wonderland with hanging lights and silver accents. The students voted for freshmen Patrick Pitman and Kathleen Mundy as the king and queen of the Winter Dance. The group stayed overnight in Washington D.C. and on Monday, January 24, participated in the Right to Life “March for Life” event. “Irish for Life” joined thousands of American citizens at this annual event that protests abortion. Science Fair held at STVM STVM is hosting a local science fair on Wednesday, February 16, in the Cosgrove Center. Biology, chemistry, earth science and physical science will all be represented. The public is welcome to view the projects from 3:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-7:00 p.m. An Award’s Ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m on the day of the fair. Students who are rated superior may be selected to attend the 63rd Western Reserve District 5 Science Day at The University of Akron on Saturday, March 19, 2011. Ohio Magazine awards teachers Teachers from STVM will be recognized in Ohio Magazine’s 2011 Excellence in Educa- tion- Private High Schools program. The program honors Ohio’s top private high school teachers who are making a difference and contributing to achieving Excellence in Educa- tion.
