  • Brentwood Borough Local Plan, 2015-2030
ANNEX 1 ECC RESPONSE TO DUNTON GARDEN SUBURB CONSULTATION ANNEX 1: TO ECC CABINET MEMBER ACTION DATED 16 MARCH (FP/957/01/15) ECC FORMAL RESPONSE TO THE DUNTON GARDEN SUBURB CONSULTATION BY BRENTWOOD BOROUGH COUNCIL AND BASILDON BOROUGH COUNCIL ECC response dated 9th March 2015. 1. INTRODUCTION Thank you for seeking Essex County Council (ECC) comments on this joint consultation proposal. ECC acknowledges the preparation of this joint “Concept” consultation to explore the potential for cross boundary developments between Brentwood Borough Council (Brentwood BC) and Basildon Borough Council (Basildon BC), in accordance with your joint Memorandum of Understanding. It is also acknowledged that this Concept consultation has no local plan status and does not form part of the preparation of either Councils respective local plans. However the next steps will be for both councils to make a joint decision on whether to proceed with this concept, taking into account the findings of this consultation. In responding to this consultation ECC acknowledges the need for Local Planning Authorities to explore opportunities to meet their future economic growth, housing and infrastructure development requirements. It is noted however, that any decisions will need to be taken through the statutory local plan process for each authority to meet their respective visions and policies for the long-term planning and development of the boroughs. This is required to secure a sustainable economic, social and environmental future to the benefit of its residents, businesses and visitors, based on a robust long-term strategy. ECC requires future proposals and local plans to provide a reliable basis on which ECC may plan future service provision and required community infrastructure for which it is responsible.
