KBA delineation Catchment

Focal area delineation yes - New Reserve Forest catchment (overlap with New Amarambalam IBA)

The Chaliyar River catchment is the largest undammed river in . It flows westward from the New Amarambalam Hills in the . The upper catchment is predominantly Site description evergreen forest and shola grasslands. Deforestation in the upper catchment and rubber and plantations in the middle catchment are the major threats to freshwater biodiversity in the KBA.
