NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Featuring seven home matches, four against Big West opponents, and contests against four Pac 10 schools, the Cal State Northridge women's soccer team has announced its 2008 schedule. In his third year at the helm of the program, head coach Keith West has put together another challenging slate for the Matadors in 2008.

Northridge opens the season with a pair of home matches at the Matador Soccer Field. Firs up is a scrimmage against the on Aug. 22 at 4:30 p.m. One week later, the Matadors open the 2008 season with a visit from the Southern Utah. The Thunderbirds and Matadors will play at 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 29.

Two days later, Northridge makes its first trip away from home, heading to face the Roadrunners of Cal State Bakersfield on Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. From there, CSUN welcomes the Rebels of UNLV to the Matador Soccer Field on Sept. 9 at 4:30 p.m.

From there, Northridge has four-straight matches on the road, beginning with a trip to Northern California. On Sept. 12, the Matadors will face the Golden Bears of California in Moraga at 2 p.m. Two days later, the Gaels of Saint Mary's are on the slate, also in Moraga, for a 2:30 p.m. match.

The next week, a trip to the Grand Canyon State looms, with the Matadors facing a pair of Pac 10 foes. First up is a meeting with the Sun Devils of Arizona State on Sept. 19 in Tempe, Ariz., at 7 p.m. The Matadors then head down the interstate to Tucson to face the Wildcats of the University of Arizona on Sept. 21 at 1 p.m.

Northridge then returns home to face the University of Dons in a match at the Matador Soccer Field on Sept. 21 at 1 p.m., before heading back on the road for a pair of games in Los Angeles. First up is the Lions from Loyola Marymount on Oct. 3 at 4 p.m., followed by a match against the defending national champion USC Trojans at 1 p.m. on Oct. 5.

The following weekend, the Matadors open Big West play with another road trip, this one against UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly. The Gauchos and Matadors will meet on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m., and two days later, the Mustangs welcome Northridge to San Luis Obispo for a 1 p.m. match.

CSUN opens its home portion of the Big West schedule on Oct. 17, hosting the UC Davis Aggies, who will make their first trip to Northridge as members of the Big West Conference for a 2:30 p.m. match. Two days later, the pay a visit to the Matador Soccer Field for another 2:30 p.m. match.

Northridge then heads back out on the road one final time, traveling to UC Irvine and Long Beach State on Oct. 23 and 26, respectively. The Anteaters and Matadors will tangle at 7 p.m. and then the Matadors head to face the 49ers at noon.

In the final weekend of the season, Northridge faces UC Riverside on Oct. 30 at 2:30 p.m at the Matador Soccer Field before facing the defending league champion Titans of Cal State Fullerton on Senior Day, Nov. 2, at 2:30 p.m.

The top four teams in the conference will qualify for the Big West Championships, with the semifinal matches to be hosted by the top two seeds. The winners of the semifinals will meet for the league championship at the top seed's home field. The dates for the tournament will be released by the Big West Conference shortly.
