VINTAGE NOTES SIENA comes from our valley floor and mountainside vineyards. The fertile, deep soils of our valley floor vineyards give us juicy, rich , while our mountainside vineyards with their shallow, rocky, low-vigor soil add impressive depth, structure and concentration. 2013 was another great year for making wine. The growing season began with an early break, after a cool, wet winter. An unusually warm and dry spring was followed by a consistently warm summer with some hot days at the end of August prompted an earlier than in recent years, resulting in good color and structure with concentrated flavors.

WINEMAKING NOTES SIENA is a blend consisting primarily of Sangiovese. Grapes are harvested and destemmed, then hand sorted and fed directly into tanks for three days of cold soaking. The wine is fermented on the skins until , then individual lots are moved to where they complete . After fermentation, the wine is blended early for integration of and only racked once to maintain the wine’s fresh and vibrant qualities. The wine is then aged in new Hungarian puncheons and older French oak bar- rels for 12 months in wine caves prior to bottling.

FOOD PAIRINGS SIENA pairs perfectly with savory Italian food, with flavorful or pizza. SIENA is also de- licious with dishes such as Chicken Cacciatore, a duck salad with fruit, like raspberries and oranges, or simply prosciutto on crostini bread.
