I Questionnaire ................................................................................ 51 3.2 Appel à participants ........................................................................ 55 RÉSUMÉ L' objectif de cette recherche est d ' identifier le rôle tenu auprès des spectateurs par le contenu politique présent dans la sitcom animée pour adultes Family Guy. De nature qualitative, notre étude de réception se compose de douze entretiens réalisés en compagnie de m~mbres de l'audience du programme. Ces derniers ont été recrutés en ligne sur le forum de l'Internet Movie Database consacré à la série. Nous tentons d'abord de révéler dans quelle mesure le contenu politique est effectivement perçu par nos participants, pour ensuite nous intéresser à la place occupée par le politique dans le développement du goût pour la série et dans la fidé lisation du public. Puis, la troisième partie de notre analyse examine dans quelle mesure nos répondants utilisent ou non Family Guy comme source de réflexion plus générale par rapport aux problématiques politiques occupant l'espace public. Nos résultats nous permettent d ' affirmer que le politique est assez aisément perçu par nos répondants, quoi que certains semblent inconfortables avec l' idée d'ériger Family Guy en programme à teneur politique. De plus, le politique, s'il ne semble pas toujours représenter l'un des éléments attirant les téléspectateurs de prime abord, occupe cependant une place essentielle dans ce qui constitue l'attrait de la série pour les récepteurs assidus. Enfin, nous avons pu relever un certain nombre d ' indices nous permettant d ' affirmer que la série est à l' origine de réflexions et de discussions politiques pour un bon nombre de nos répondants. Ces résultats nous permettent ainsi d ' affirmer que la série offre des occasions d' activation de leur réflexion politique à ses spectateurs, et participe en ce sens à l'espace public par la construction du sens donné aux enjeux politiques. De par sa nature qualitative, notre recherche possède une po1tée limitée et ne peut bien sûr être général isée à l'ensemble du public de la série. Toutefois, nos résultats indiquent

As perspectives played an important part, an understanding of what the artist needed to portray was critical. Modernism dealt with this portrayal, which came about due to the changes taking place in society. In terms of the industry, where the overall product dealt with features like individualism, experimentation and absurdity, modernism dealt with a need to overthrow past notions of what painting, literature, and the visual arts needed to be. "After World War II, the focus moved from Europe to the United States, and abstract expressionism (led by Jackson Pollock) continued the movement's momentum, followed by movements such as geometric abstractions, minimalism, process art, pop art, and pop music." Postmodernism helped do away with these shortcomings. An understanding of postmodernism is explored in this paper. The main point which sets it apart is concepts like pastiche, intersexuality, and spectacle. Concerning pop culture, an understanding of referencing is a constant trait used by postmodern art.

Hewitt, Advisor The purpose of this case study was to explore the conversational repair responses of 3 adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to communication breakdowns that occurred naturally in conversations. Adolescents with ASD are at the threshold of entry into independent living in society where their ability to manage communication breakdowns is essential. Of equal interest to the purposes of this study was describing how individuals with ASD were similar or different from each other in their sources of communication breakdowns, types of clarification requests, and repair responses used. The study used an embedded multiple-case study design to identify the sources of breakdowns, types of clarification requests made by the listener, and the types of repair responses used. Language samples were elicited across two conversational contexts (an Adult-Client context and a Peer with ASD context). A compiled coding system based on coding systems in the existing literature, pilot study findings, and those that emerged from the data was used to analyze the language samples. Results showed that all 3 participants exhibited and repaired breakdowns. Although similarities existed between the 3 participants in the types of repair responses used, they differed from each other in the variety of repair strategies used to resolve the breakdowns.
