“NCP's work makes a stage for finding nuance in rigid categories.” -VICE

The Nouveau Classical Project (NCP), led by artistic director and ENSEMBLE pianist Sugar Vendil, functions as both a new music ensemble and creative production hub. With fashion as a core element, NCP’s SUGAR VENDIL Artistic Director & Pianist imaginative projects highlight new music in new mediums. It commissions composers and artists in every field to collaborate on AMANDA GREGORY projects that transcend the concert hall experience. Recent and Soprano upcoming premieres include: the sold-out premiere of “Potential Energies” composed by Trevor Gureckis and choreographer by LAURA COCKS Flute Barbie Diewald at Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM); “Sororatorio” by Vin Calianno; a new work by Ted Hearne; and 2015-16 Rome ISABEL KIM Prize winner Nina C. Young’s “Making Tellus." NCP has performed Clarinet at exciting venues such as (le) poisson rouge, Galapagos Art Space, Korea Gallery, Symphony Space, The Center for Fiction, and Issue MARA MAYER Clarinet & Bass Clarinet Project Room as part of MATA’s Interval series. It has also become a sought-after ensemble for fashion shows and has performed in the MARINA KIFFERSTEIN New York Fashion Week presentations of CFDA winner Pamela Love, Violin winner Gretchen Jones, Kempner Collection, Ecco Domani winner Novis, Tanya Taylor, and more.
