THE NOUVEAU CLASSICAL PROJECT ANNUAL BENEFIT OCTOBER 4, 2017 at Flying Solo

“Leading this unlikely intersection of classical music and fashion” - The New York Times "...bringing a refreshing edge to the widely conservative genre" - VICE NCP’s synesthesia-inspired concert, “Mysterium Novum,” at White Box in 2016 brought together visual art, music, scent, fashion, and interactive technology.

ABOUT THE NOUVEAU CLASSICAL PROJECT & THE ANNUAL BENEFIT The Nouveau Classical Project is a contemporary classical music ensemble that is "bringing a refreshing edge to the widely conservative genre" (VICE). It began by collaborating with fashion designers for its concerts and has expanded to creating multidisciplinary performances. Its mission is to engage new audiences and show that classical music is a living, breathing art form. To provide opportunities for composers, NCP holds annual Calls for Scores, Calls for Proposals, and commissions new work via the NCP Commissioning Fund. NCP has performed at exciting venues such as Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Symphony Space, and more. CFDA winner Pamela Love, winner Gretchen Jones, Kempner Collection, Ecco Domani winner Novis, Tanya Taylor, and more. NCP has received prestigious awards such as grants from the National Endowment for the Art, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, New York State Council on the Arts.

The benefit will take place on October 4, 2017 at SoHo boutique Flying Solo. We will honor composer and Firehouse Space founder Sandra Sprecher with the NCP Visionary Award. This award recognizes innovative leaders whose work has made a significant impact in their fields.

This event will bring together an eclectic group of people to support NCP’s mission of promoting classical music to younger and more diverse audiences. In addition to the presentation of the Visionary Award, the evening will feature performances by NCP, a video presentation of recent and upcoming concerts, and recognizing the generous sponsors who are helping the group realize its mission by supporting the annual benefit.
