Roland Announces FP-10 Digital Piano

Affordable 88-note instrument with class-leading sound, features, and portability

The NAMM Show, Anaheim, CA, January 23, 2019 — Roland (Exhibit 10702, Hall A) announces the FP-10 Digital Piano, a new entry-level instrument with premium sound and playability. The FP-10 features Roland’s acclaimed piano sound and an expressive 88-note weighted- keyboard, delivering top-tier performance that was previously unavailable in its price class. The instrument’s portable design makes it easy to move, while built-in stereo speakers and support for headphones allow users to play anytime and anywhere. Providing an authentic piano experience at an exceptional value, the FP-10 is ideal for both serious piano students and advanced players who need a portable instrument for gigging, teaching, and playing at home.

Roland’s popular FP-30 Digital Piano has been an undisputed hit among players, with over 150,000 instruments sold since its release in 2016. The FP-10 inherits many of the FP-30’s features in an even more portable and affordable design. SuperNATURAL Piano technology delivers rich, dynamic sound that provides a solid foundation for learning, along with detailed articulation and response to satisfy the most experienced players. The PHA-4 Standard keyboard is the perfect complement, offering progressive hammer action, escapement, and Ivory Feel keys found in Roland’s high-end home .

With its modern digital engine, the FP-10 goes far beyond any acoustic piano, bringing more fun and productivity to playing sessions. Non-piano sounds like organs, strings, and jazz scat allow users to enjoy different music styles, while an onboard metronome is always at hand to improve timing. Twin Piano mode eliminates the grind of solitary practice, supporting side-by-side playing in the same key range with a duet partner or teacher. These and others functions can be operated in an even more interactive way via the Piano Partner 2 app for iOS and Android devices. The FP-10 includes Bluetooth®-MIDI support as well, allowing players to wirelessly record MIDI tracks in music production apps like Apple’s GarageBand and many others.

Roland Announces Sparkle Clean Tone Capsule for the Blues Cube Guitar Amplifier Series

The ultimate transparent tube voice, designed in collaboration with guitar legend Jeff “Skunk” Baxter

The NAMM Show, Anaheim, CA, January 23, 2019 — Roland (Exhibit 10702, Hall A) announces the Blues Cube Sparkle Clean Tone Capsule, bringing yet another premium voice to the Blues Cube guitar amplifier series. Designed in collaboration with renowned guitarist Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, this user- installable Tone Capsule delivers a versatile range of transparent clean tones with punch, presence, and clarity. The core voicing is based around the KT66, a vintage British output tube noted for its full sound, high headroom, and dynamic feel. A Blues Cube amplifier with the Sparkle Clean Tone Capsule installed delivers a richly expressive clean voice that’s ideal for pop, country, and jazz styles, pedal steel players, and any guitarist who shapes their sound with stompbox pedals.

Roland’s groundbreaking Blues Cube amplifiers feature the comprehensive Tube Logic approach, which fully captures the highly musical sound and inspiring feel of classic tube guitar amps. One of the many benefits of Tube Logic is the ability to instantly change the amplifier’s voicing via a Tone Capsule socket on the chassis. The Sparkle Clean Tone Capsule is the latest member of a growing lineup that includes Tone Capsules developed with Eric Johnson, Robben Ford, Oz Noy, and Kirk Fletcher.

“Blues Cube amplifiers are revolutionary, and the Tone Capsule concept is brilliant,” stated Jeff “Skunk” Baxter. “I’ve been working with Roland for over 40 years, and they’ve unlocked the secret to creating a guitar amplifier with superb features, extraordinary capabilities, and unmatched tone. Instead of spending hours modifying and tailoring the electronics to get the sound, features, and performance I need, all I have to do is plug in my Tone Capsule and the amp is instantly customized exactly the way I want it. I have been waiting for a guitar amplifier like this for a long, long time.”

The Sparkle Clean Tone Capsule is compatible with the Blues Cube Artist, Artist212, Stage, and Tour amplifier models.

The Roland Blues Cube Sparkle Clean Tone Capsule will be available TBA with U.S. pricing of $149.99.

Roland Introduces TM-1 Trigger Module

Compact and affordable floor-based module makes it easy for any drummer to start their hybrid journey

The NAMM Show, Anaheim, CA, January 23, 2019 — Roland (Exhibit 10702, Hall A) introduces the TM-1 Trigger Module, the latest addition to the company’s leading lineup of hybrid drumming products. Today’s professional drummers commonly use hybrid setups that add electronic elements to their acoustic drum kits. But for players who are new to hybrid drumming, getting started can seem a little daunting. Compact and very easy to operate, the TM-1 offers a simple solution for first-time users, allowing them to bring hybrid power to their acoustic with zero hassle.

Modern music styles often feature signature drum sounds created with studio processing, as well as electronic drum/percussion tracks and looped grooves that cannot be replicated with an acoustic kit. And sometimes it’s just not possible for a player to bring every drum or percussion instrument they want to a gig. The TM-1 provides instant access to all these sounds, so drummers can tackle any musical scenario with ease. It features 15 ready-to-play kits with two instruments in each, and the onboard kits include various kick and snare combinations, and even synth loops.

Designed much like a floor-based guitar effect pedal, the TM-1 runs on batteries or AC power and fits nicely alongside other elements of an acoustic kit. Two dual-trigger inputs can accommodate up to four Roland trigger devices, while direct-access control knobs and two footswitches make operation a breeze.

Another advantage of a hybrid drum setup is the ability to choose and customize sounds for an entire setlist, so each song gets the perfect drum sound. With the TM-1 editor app for Mac/Windows computers and iOS/Android devices, it’s possible to import original audio samples, assign sounds to each trigger pad, and quickly customize sounds in numerous ways. And with convenient editing from a smartphone, there’s no need to bring a laptop to the gig for last-minute tweaks.

The TM-1 is compatible with a variety of Roland trigger devices, including the BT-1 Bar Trigger Pad, RT-series acoustic drum triggers, V-Pads, and others.

The Roland TM-1 Trigger Module will be available February 2019 with U.S. pricing of $159.99.

To learn more about the TM-1 Trigger Module, visit Roland.com.

Roland Announces Serato x Roland TR-SYNC Update

Seamlessly add the legendary sound of Roland’s iconic drum machines to Serato DJ Pro setups with forthcoming TR-SYNC update for TR-8, TR-8S, TR-08, and TR-09

The NAMM Show, Anaheim, CA, January 23, 2019 — Roland (Exhibit 10702, Hall A) announces updates to its iconic TR-8, TR-8S, TR-08, or TR-09 drum machines, making them Serato DJ OSA- ready. This new functionality, named TR-SYNC, will be available in a forthcoming update and allows DJs to effortlessly match the BPM of the TR drum machines with tracks playing on Serato DJ Pro. The TR-SYNC lets DJs easily add their own drum loops to songs with the same Roland drum sounds used on the most popular tracks of yesterday and today, flip genres, beef up classic hits, remix, and transition between songs in new ways.

To connect the Roland TR drum machine, plug the USB from the TR drum machine to the computer running Serato DJ Pro with supported hardware, and then connect the audio output to an available input on the DJ mixer or controller. Because Serato DJ Pro takes care of the sync, DJs can focus on their performance and the new creative options.

Once DJs have mastered the basics of mixing and performance, adding a drum machine gives them a chance to stand out and expand their creative options exponentially by changing the way tracks sound. DJs can layer a harder beat over an existing track or use an acapella with loops they’ve personally created to bring brand-new remixes to life on the fly. Adding the TR drum sounds can make songs sound “bigger” and can extend music libraries across different genres. Now DJs can spend their time playing edits and remixes instead of searching the record pools to make their own versions for truly unique DJ sets.

This free update will be supported in a forthcoming release of Serato DJ Pro and firmware for Roland’s TR drum machines are forthcoming. For more information, please visit Roland.com.

Roland Exhibits LX700 Piano Series

Three models deliver authentic grand piano experience for discerning players

The NAMM Show, Anaheim, CA, January 23, 2019 — Roland’s LX700 series recreates the experience of playing a beautiful grand piano at a world-class venue. The flagship LX708, mid-range LX706, and entry-level LX705 all deliver superior performance for the discerning player, with innovations in sound generation, keyboard action, ambience modeling, and design.

Unlike typical digital pianos, the LX700’s PureAcoustic Modeling technology emulates the way that acoustic pianos produce sound, including the hammers striking the strings and the sound resonating through the piano’s body. This enables a choice of completely realistic, but tonally distinct, grand piano models—one for European tastes and the other with an American feel—offering the LX700 player two supremely playable-yet-customizable pianos in one. Roland’s PureAcoustic Ambience technology then recreates the sound space by emulating the acoustic properties of world-class concert halls, studios, and even cathedrals, which is especially impressive when using headphones.

The keyboard and pedals in the LX700 series respond faithfully to every nuance. .Roland’s new Hybrid Grand keyboard (LX708/LX706) features longer key actions than those on typical digital pianos, so the player doesn’t need to press harder the further up the key they play. The LX708’s keyboard even reproduces the vibration from the cabinet resonance when playing a grand piano. In addition, the LX708 comes equipped with newly designed Responsive Damper Action for the most authentic pedal expressions. This above technology is standard across the range. Convenient features like Bluetooth® audio, Twin Piano mode, a metronome, and the option to use headphones for private practice are also standard, along with a unique C-shape aperture on the piano’s front that enables natural sound projection.

The flagship LX708 has a tall, commanding cabinet and a lid that opens for optimum sound projection, as well as a powerful eight-speaker sound system. The midrange LX706 offers a shorter cabinet, closed-lid design, and six-speaker system, matching its pro-level performance with a budget-conscious price. The entry-level LX705 has the most compact cabinet, a four-speaker system, and Roland’s expressive PHA-50 keyboard. Depending on the model, finishes include polished ebony, polished white, charcoal, dark rosewood, and light oak.

Complementing the LX700 series is Piano Every Day, a unique smartphone app that once installed, LX700 owners can browse and purchase from Sheet Music Direct’s online library of over 70,000 music scores, before trying the “Timeline” program to track and display progress when learning a new piece, complete with exercises if required. Piano Every Day is available for free from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

The Roland LX700 digital piano series is currently available, with U.S. pricing ranging from $4299.99 to $7399.99.

Roland Offers VT-4 Voice Transformer

Compact and powerful vocal effects processor for singers, DJs, electronic musicians, and web broadcasters

The NAMM Show, Anaheim, CA, January 23, 2019 — Roland (Exhibit 10702, Hall A) is displaying the VT-4 Voice Transformer, a powerful effects processor for manipulating the human voice. Compact and easy to use, the VT-4 allows the user to connect a microphone and quickly craft unique vocal sounds with performance-oriented controls. Harmony, vocoding, pitch shifting, hard tuning, ambience, and other high-quality effects are available, providing everything from subtle augmentation to radical transformation. Battery-powered and ready to travel, the VT-4 is perfect for singers, DJs, web broadcasters, and all those who use their voice in a creative application.

Today’s musical styles use unusual vocal sounds with heavy processing, making them stand out and grab the listener’s attention. The VT-4 puts a wealth of modern and retro vocal effects at the user’s fingertips, eliminating the need to employ a complicated setup with a computer and plug-ins.

The VT-4 features an intuitive interface for instant creative control. Users can manipulate their sound in real-time constantly altering the effect to suit the track and enhance the performance. Direct control over both pitch and format instantly transforms a vocal persona with male/female gender characteristics, electronic timbres, robot voices, and more.

Achieving complex vocal effects with the VT-4 is easy, and multiple effects can be used at the same time. Each effect has a selection of one-touch variations for quick access to different vocoder characteristics, lo-fi effects, multi-part harmonies, and distinct kinds of reverb and delay. Users can chain effects, set the controls how they like, and save their setups in preset buttons for later recall.

Plugging in a MIDI keyboard to the VT-4, unlocks more expressive possibilities, allowing users to guide the Auto-Pitch, harmony, and vocoder engines with notes and chords. This makes it possible to hard- tune the vocal input to specific pitches, play keyboard leads with a funky vocoded flavor, and create multi-part backing vocal stacks on the fly. Plus, the VT-4’s compact footprint sits neatly on most keyboards. Additionally, the VT-4 is a powerful tool for bringing humor, drama, and variety to spoken- word applications. Offering simple controls and USB-audio capabilities, it’s uniquely suited to altering voices for YouTube broadcasts, Twitch and Facebook streams, podcasts, and more.

The Roland VT-4 Voice Transformer is currently available with U.S. pricing of $229.99.

Roland Displays V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless Codex Edition with Upgraded Award-Winning Predecessor

Hybrid wireless/wired analog headphone features additional high-quality Bluetooth audio codecs for the best possible sound

The NAMM Show, Anaheim, CA, January 23, 2019 — Roland (Exhibit 10702, Hall A) is displaying the V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless Codex Edition, ideal for both general consumers and demanding audiophiles who seek professional grade audio quality. Building on the success of its original Crossfade 2 Wireless, which earned multiple Editor’s Choice awards for its unparalleled sound, design, and quality, the Codex Edition raises the bar even further featuring three audio codecs for improved wireless audio quality and universal compatibility. Qualcomm aptX, AAC and SBC are now available in all three colorways: Matte Black, Matte White and Rose Gold.

“Bluetooth audio quality is defined by the algorithm codec and bitrate vs. the version. Listeners no longer need to sacrifice audio quality for the convenience that Bluetooth capabilities provide. Crossfade 2 Wireless Codex Edition gives modern audiophiles the best of both wireless and wired worlds,” said Val Kolton, CEO of V-MODA. “Our hybrid Codex Edition is shrinking the gap between the sound quality of wireless and wired playback for a sound signature that is meticulously sculpted for audiophiles, gamers and professional musicians, alike.”

Essential for today’s demanding mobile lifestyle, the Codex Edition headphones feature Qualcomm aptX for CD sound quality over Bluetooth on higher-end Android and MacOS sources. Furthermore, it offers two additional codec options: The Advanced Audio Codec (AAC) for best sound performance on iOS and many other devices along with the Sub-Band Codec (SBC) for universal compatibility when aptX and AAC are not supported. The headphone audio codec in-use adjusts according to the paired device. When devices are compatible with more than one codec, such as with the Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy S9, users are able to select which codec to use. Additionally, most macOS devices support aptX and users can view their active codec by pressing the Option (Alt) key on the Bluetooth menu bar icon.

The V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless Codex Edition is currently available with U.S. pricing of $350.00.

To view instructions on how to monitor and change your codec on Android and macOS visit V- MODA.com/Codex.
