  • A Re-Plantar Bandera El Puerto Rico FC

  • The Darkness Volume 4, Issue 9 August 3-6, 2016
The Darkness Volume 4, Issue 9 August 3-6, 2016 NOTES FROM A JACKASS HECKLER’S SCOUTING REPORT DARK CLOUDS HYMNAL NOTES FROM A Jackass Two matches in a week, seven matches this month: these certainly aren’t the dog days of summer. Four of the Loons’ matches this month are away from home, where the team has struggled might- ily. And so picking up points at home has to be automatic, particu- larly against a team like Puerto Rico (Miami will be a tougher nut to crack). Puerto Rico, in theory, should be one of the easiest home match- es of the year. One would expect Carl Craig to rest a couple of legs before Saturday’s match. But the NASL being the NASL, something weird could always happen. Miami, on the other hand, has improved greatly with the big money-signings of Poku, Ryan, Steele, Lahoud, and Farfan. These players cost over $2M to sign and Poku alone makes probably half of the Ottawa Fury’s entire wage budget. After their last meeting, Carl Craig said Miami were the best team they’d faced all season. The Puerto Rico match, of course, will also be played on what has to be one of the craziest mid-week soccer days in ages. The US Women will kick off against New Zealand in the Olympics at 5PM, the Loons kick off at Nessie at 7PM, then upwards of 60,000 people will fill US Bank Stadium and watch Chelsea v AC Milan at 8:30PM. The overlap with the International Champions Cup is, to say the least, regretabble.

  • May 24, 2019 Welcome to Madison!
OFFICIAL GAME DAY PROGRAM Photo by Justin Nuoffer, IG: @itsjuicetime VS FIRST INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY MAY 24, 2019 WELCOME TO MADISON! HERTHA BERLIN! Our First International Friendly Forward Madison FC will kick off its first-ever major international exhibition match Friday night, hosting German Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin at Breese Stevens Field. The game promises to be a historic one, not only as a huge test for FMFC’s players, but also as a chance for Madison’s soccer fans to watch one of the world’s major clubs in action. Founded in 1892, Hertha Berlin is the largest soccer club in Germany’s capital city. Hertha was a found- ing member of the German Bundesliga and remains the only Berlin team in Germany’s first division. Her- tha Berlin finished 11th in the Bundesliga this season and competed in the Europa League as recently as 2017. Speaking on “Let Me Be Forward” Wednesday, Head Coach Daryl Shore said he is planning to treat the game as a special occasion. “We view the Hertha Berlin game as a bonus for all of our players,” Shore said. “The fans are going to get a chance to see everybody play, they’re going to see all of our guys get some minutes.” FMFC will come into the Hertha game in the middle of a heavily-congested schedule in which the team has not had more than four days of rest between games since April. According to Shore, this means he will use the full depth of his roster for the friendly, and could also count on the presence of several non-loan Minnesota United players, as he did during FMFC’s exhibition against UW-Madison last month.
