1 2020 Trips in Brief Our finalised trips for the upcoming touring season are listed below. As usual many of the trips will depend on permissions from Land Councils and other Aboriginal bodies. Over the last several years we have found our trips booking out or filling up exceedingly quickly with our regular travellers, folks who have done trips with us before, in some cases many trips! Now that’s wonderful for a commercial enterprise but it makes things difficult for newcomers to get onto the trips that they find most appealing. We’ll make a note about this issue on our website front page & various other spots to warn folks to contact us early, very early if think a trip with Beadell Tours is something of interest for them. “Anne Beadell & Hann’s Track” Currently the most popular of Len’s roads, the Anne Beadell Highway is a 1350 km link between Coober Pedy & Laverton in the west. This road was made over quite a few years and there is plenty of Len Beadell history from his diaries written as the road was cut with dozer & grader. We’ll also detour via Hann’s Track to add a little bit more adventure. This extra leg is a good set of wheel-tracks that follow the route taken by explorer Frank Hann for several years from 1903. We will rejoin the Anne Beadell Highway after completing Frank’s route. This is a very good trip for those interested in unique environments and sites of special interest. 20 days – self catered May 1st 2020 - depart Coober Pedy S.A. May 20th 2020 - arrive Laverton W.A. $3200 per tag-a-long vehicle ($160/day) 1800 kms approx’ @ 95 kms per day Longest distance between fuel = 940 kms Diesel, Unleaded & Camper Trailers welcome - No previous desert experience required Beadell Tours – 2020 trips 2 “Beadell Tracks Wanderer” The Gunbarrel, Gary Highway, Gary Junction Road & Sandy Blight Junction Roads, a combination of the famous Len Beadell roads guided by Beadell family historian Connie, of Connie Sue Highway fame. Travel with Connie & Mick for a steady informative look at the heart of Australia. An area made unique by Aboriginal culture & explorers from long ago now largely forgotten. 21 days – self catered 6th June 2020 – Carnegie Station W.A. 26th June 2020 – Yulara Resort N.T. $3360 per tag-a-long vehicle ($160/day) 2400 kms approx’ @ 126 kms per day Longest distance between fuel = 800 kms Diesel, Unleaded & Camper Trailers welcome - No previous desert experience required “Centre to South” This is an interesting trip for adventurers with a keen sense of history and a liking for remote camping. Using both famous desert roads & forgotten wheel-tracks through outback wilderness areas we travel from the Red Centre through the Great Victoria Desert to the vast Nullarbor Plain & the Myall woodlands that are some of the best camping in the country. Another Beadell Tour riddled with history and of particular note is the ever-changing scenery. 24 days – self catered July 26th 2020 - depart Yulara Resort N.T. August 18th 2020 - arrive Eucla W.A. $3840 per tag-a-long vehicle ($160/day) 2200 kms approx’ @ 95 kms per day Longest distance between fuel = 1200 kms (subject to change) Diesel, Unleaded & Camper Trailers welcome - No previous desert experience required “South to Centre” Due to the popularity of the above trip, we have decided to run it again in reverse. See the above description. The main difference with this version is that we will do some touring in the eastern Nullarbor area before heading to Eucla and going north. This means this trip is a little longer in distance but has extra sites of interest. 24 days – self catered August 29th 2020 - depart Coorabie S.A. September 21st 2020 - arrive Yulara N.T. $3840 per tag-a-long vehicle ($160/day) 2700 kms approx’ @ 118 kms per day Longest distance between fuel = 1100 kms Diesel, Unleaded & Camper Trailers welcome - No previous desert experience required Beadell Tours – 2020 trips .

    Western Australia – Permits and permissions required to access indigenous and other lands, including national parks General: Quite a number of transit permits for aboriginal lands in WA are able to be issued by the Aboriginal Lands Trust of WA. (N.B.: The Aboriginal Lands Trust has no involvement whatever in the issuing of permits for the Canning Stock Route – for Canning information and Permits see below under the heading of Canning Stock Route). The Trust is a part of the Department of Indigenous Affairs. Applications can be made on-line at www.dia.wa.gov.au and simply follow the prompts. The web site contains a lot of excellent information including maps showing the specific areas and tracks where Permits are required and whether the Trust or a Land Council issues them. The conditions under which permits can be gained via an automated on-line process are also explained. Once you log on to the web site, click on the “Entering Aboriginal Land” button on the left side of the Home Page and read all of the information under the nominated four (4) headings BEFORE applying on-line. The maps showing the tracks and whether DIA or a Land Council, etc., issues them can be found under the “Travel Information” heading. About half way down that page is a map of WA showing the Land Council areas; simply click on the area you want to visit. Symon State Herbarium of South Australia, Botanic Gardens of Adelaide, North Terrace, Adelaide, South Australia 5000 e-mail: [email protected] Abstract Goodenia gypsicola Symon a new Goodenia confined to consolidated gypsum is described and figured, six collections are known. Goodenia gypsicola Symon, sp. nov. Herba perennis, radice palari fortique, brachyblastis multis brevibus apice confertis. Folia spathulata 8 x 1 cm, pleraque 5 x 0.5 cm, integra aut 2-3 lobis parvis, minute pubescentia comis simplicibus et glandulosis. Inflorescentia caudis erectis filo metallico similibus, simplex aut breviter ramosa. Bracteae anguste oblongae. Pedunculi filiformi et declinati, articulati 1 mm sub calice. Lobi calicis triangulares. Corolla 6 mm longa, lobi anguste alati, sublazulina. Indusium I x I mm bruneo-vinosum, orificio setis brevibus. Capsula globularis 1.5 mm diam. Semina plurima 0.25 mm longa, arigulare-obovoidea et vitrea, ala obscura. Type: Western Australia, Austin Botanical District 10.7 km NW of Menzies on Sandstone road. Common. Calcrete island in salt lake. Casuarina / Grevillea shrubland on powdery pale yellow brown loam. Small tufted perennial with very rigid inflorescences. Flowers very pale blue. 30.x.1993 R.J. Chinnock 8586 & G.S. Ricbmond (holo: AD, iso. (n.v.): PERTH, NSW). Perennial herb with well developed tap root and numerous short shoots at ground level forming rounded tufts to 6 cm high and 8 cm diam., larger plants may have 100 leaves. Young growths minutely pubescent with simple and sessile glandular hairs (lens needed), mature leaves glabrescent or with a few hairs persisting on the lobe tips, longer white hairs persist in the leaf axils and may be conspicuous.

We are looking forward to his findings at the end of this month.” “We would not be in this predicament if our land was worthless. Put simply the government wants us off our land so that they can source the minerals. That's the plain truth and they have been doing everything in their power to force their way in. Tribal Elders travelled to Adelaide recently to report to a Standing Committee on the state of affairs on the APY Lands, particularly with regard to lack of consultation by the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Mr. Ian Hunter. The Anangu wanted changes made to the way the APY Lands board was structured and they wanted their consitution changed however before the Ombudsman has delivered his findings, the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs is trying to engage us with a review of the APY Lands Act, that they had not wanted altered.
