Russian Language Adventure in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia Russian Language Adventure – it is a language course based on non-formal education way of learning. The principle of the course is “learning by doing”. You will learn Russian language by taking part in activities specially prepared for you. We would like to give a chance to each participant to learn the language in typical situations of everyday life in Russia. You will have the opportunity to find out more about Russian culture and tradition, visit a Russian sauna and see the biggest collection of samovars in Russia. We would like to invite you to take part in many interesting activities with others, such as preparing a theater play, do some workshops in a local library, and visit a Russian village. There will be a huge party organized called SOLYANKA, with around 200 participants, where you will be able to meet many Russians and foreigners, who live in Nizhny Novgorod. We would be glad to have you on board with us if you would like to develop your Russian language competence in: - understanding spoken Russian - comprehending reading materials - improving pronunciation skills - communicate in typical situations of everyday life in Russia Activities will start at 10 am and finish at 6 pm. Summarize – 80 hours of non- formal education in Russian language! ~ 1 ~ About Nizhny Novgorod Nizhny Novgorod was founded in 1221 and has a population of 1 500 000 people nowadays. This is the fifth largest city in Russia situated at the intersection of 2 huge rivers – Oka and Volga. Nizhny Novgorod is a capital of Volga Federal district, trade and industrial Centre. A lot of traditional Russian arts were born in Nizhniy Novgorod – Khokhloma, Gorodets, Metal decoration etc. The great Russian poet – Pushkhin had lands here. Nizhniy Novgorod region is a motherland of a great Russian Saint – Seraphim Sarovskiy, so this is a place of pilgrimage of Orthodox believers. In the soviet times Nizhny Novgorod (Gorkiy) was a closed city, so people still don't have a lot of chances to communicate with foreigners. Foreign languages are not very prevailing here, and it is useful to know Russian a little bit at least to be able to communicate with locals. People are very friendly, and appreciate every effort when foreigners trying to speak their mother tongue. Interest of youth to foreign cultures is growing every day. Inhabitants in Nizhny lead a measured mode of life; their life’s is not so intensive like in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. At the same time, there are a lot of opportunities for self-realization and cultural life here – extreme sports, night clubs, museums, theatres, parks, fitness centers, libraries etc. Everybody can find a way to be satisfied in his interests and hobbies. Three meals per day will be provided. You will have a chance to try national Russian dishes and also cook your national meals for other participants and Russian guests. Participant cost 480 euro in total – 150 euros needs to be prepaid until 10th of June 2018. The rest of costs (330 euros) we kindly ask you to pay by cash when you arrive to Russia. The price includes accommodation, meals (3 times per day), all activities and materials from the whole programme. Other costs You will have to cover transport costs between Nizhny Novgorod and your home country.
