Please join us in welcoming Baroness Julia Neuberger, who will talk about her work on ageing, end of life care and how we think about leaving a legacy. She was educated at Newnham College, Cambridge and College, London. She became a rabbi in 1977, the second woman rabbi in the UK and the first to have her own congregation worldwide. She served the South London Liberal Synagogue 1977-89, chaired Camden & Islington NHS Trust 1993–1997 and was CEO of the King’s Fund until 2004,

She was Chancellor of the University of Ulster 1994-2000 and Professor of Divinity at Harvard University in 2006. She was a trustee of the Booker Prize Foundation and a founding trustee of the Schwab Charitable Trust. She was created a life peer in 2004 and was Gordon Brown’s Champion for Volunteering 2007-2009. She is a Trustee of the Van Leer Group Foundation and Van Leer Jerusalem Institute. Baroness Neuberger is a social commentator and writes and broadcasts regularly on a variety of social and religious issues.

Baroness Neuberger’s books: Not Dead Yet – A Manifesto for Old Age and Is That All There Is? will be on sale at the lunch, so please bring cash or cheques as we cannot take credit cards. We gather at noon and Baroness Neuberger will speak at 12.30. Lunch follows at 1:15 pm with two courses and coffee for £30.00. Profits from the event will support our new travel/research grant awarded to two students per year from our colleges who are on a junior year abroad programme in the UK.
