• Dr. William Gudelunas will deliver a 3 part series “America Enters Word War I” • Professor Penny Riven will offer a timely talk on terrorism entitled “The New Normal” • Jim Cornett (our favorite naturalist) will give us “The Australian Outback and the Coachella Valley”

Kal David, guitarist & Lauri Bono, vocalist present “Living The Dream” Wednesday, January 18, 7 – 8 p.m. “There is something amazing about two voices that sing as one,” said Sound Waves Magazine. born and raised, Kal David has been a guitarist, singer and songwriter for over 50 years. Today, Kal and his partner Lauri Bono spend their time traveling the world performing to blues audiences, returning most recently from Germany. Kal and Lauri will perform music from their latest album “Living the Dream.”

An Evening with Étienne Gara, Violinist Wednesday, February 15, 7 – 8 p.m. Étienne Gara is the 2010 laureate of the prestigious Marcel Bleustein-Blanchet Foundation, as well as a laureate of the Fifth International Chamber Music Ensemble competition in Boston. He is a winner of Sir Yehudi Menuhin’s “Music Live Now” competition and of the 2014 and 2016 Beverly Hills Auditions. He earned his Master of Music at New England Conservatory and later joined the violinist Midori at the University of Southern in .

Play Ball, Again, Wednesday, March 8, 6 – 8:30 p.m. Play Ball, Again is an appreciation of baseball, baseball history, high and low points, and its place in our national psyche. As a tribute to the 2017 Spring Training Season, this program is like a baseball game, divided into nine innings or acts beginning with a food truck offering free hot dogs in the parking lot. Featured guests include: Bill Marx, Pete Donovan, Scott Kiner, and Frank Furino.

Fourth Annual Rancho Mirage Artist Studio Tour Saturday, March 18, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Registration 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at City Hall) This event offers participants the opportunity to meet artists in their own environment and see how they create their work. Rancho Mirage City Hall will feature a pop-up gallery where additional artists will have their work on display. The tour begins with registration at Rancho Mirage City Hall where participants will receive a map and a pass, before heading out for a day of discovery.

Dan Barrett and The Swing All Stars featuring Rebecca Kilgore “A Lively Evening of Swing Music” Thursday, February 23, 7 – 8:30 p.m. Count on a good time as six world-class swing musicians bring their special talents to the Rancho Mirage Public Library. Remember those great songs of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s? These days, that particular repertoire is called “The Great American Songbook.” Collectively, these six musicians have recorded over 300 LP and CD recordings during their illustrious careers.

Expect selections from the likes of Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Peggy Lee and Benny Goodman and be prepared for several special solo performances and feature numbers. These musicians have played together in various combinations for years and a major goal is to have fun. They easily communicate this energy to their audiences.
