ADDITIONAL VERSES:

------ OF IS MESSIAH: OT PROPHECIES AND THEIR NT FULFILLMENT ------Then Jesus told them, “Everything written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” LUKE 24: 44 ------Messiah / Christ: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace — King of Kings and Lord of Lords — Part 6: “On that Day, His Feet Will Stand on the Mount of ” When Messiah was “cut off, out of the land of the living” [Isaiah 53:8], He was resurrected and then He ascended into Heaven. But Scripture does not leave the story there. Zechariah plainly tells us that, once again, in the future, “His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives.” And thus will begin a whole new chapter in the mission of Messiah. Since we have moved into the area of future events, both the OT Messianic prophecies and the NT “fulfillments” are predictions of what will happen – not reporting of events that had already occurred. Since Jesus the Christ has not yet returned, that event falls into this category. As early as Christ’s ascension back to Heaven, the NT predicts His return to the Mount of Olives (as foretold in Zechariah; see , below). In fact, Jesus Himself told of the manner of His return in several places in the . He told us that He will return “in a cloud with power and great glory,” sending out “His angels with a loud trumpet” to “gather His elect” from the four corners of the earth. Just as Zechariah had also written, Jesus prophesied in John’s and to John in the Book of Revelation that when He returns, He will bring “living waters” to distribute throughout the world. Jesus told the woman at the well that these “living waters” were associated with the gift of eternal life, and, three chapters later in his Gospel, John equates them with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thus, I think we may properly infer that receiving the Holy Spirit is a promise of the gift of eternal life that Christ will bestow. All of this will happen when “His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives.” MESSIAH WILL RETURN TO [OT] On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. The Mount of Olives will be split in half from east to west, forming a huge valley, so that half the mountain will move to the north and half to the south. You will flee by My mountain valley, for the valley of the mountains will extend to . You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of king of Judah. Then Yahweh my God will come and all the holy ones with Him. On that day there will be no light; the sunlight and moonlight will diminish. It will be a day known only to Yahweh, without day or night, but there will be light at evening. On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half of it toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea, in summer and winter alike. [:4–8] JESUS WAS FORETOLD TO RETURN TO THE MOUNT OF OLIVES [NT] After He had said this, He was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took Him out of their sight. While He was going, they were gazing into heaven, and suddenly two men in white clothes stood by them. They said, “Men of , why do you stand looking up into heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seen Him going into heaven.” [Acts 1:9–11] JESUS PREDICTED THE MANNER OF HIS RETURN [NT] [Jesus:] “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.” [:31] [NT] [Jesus:] “For the Son of Man is going to come with His angels in the glory of His Father, and then He will reward each according to what he has done.” [Matthew 16:27] [NT] [Jesus:] “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the peoples of the earth will mourn; and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.” [:30–31] [NT] [Jesus:] “Then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. He will send out the angels and gather His elect from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of the sky.” [:26–27] [NT] [Jesus:] “Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near!” [:27–28] JESUS IS FORETOLD TO RETURN BY ENOCH [NT] And Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied about them: Look! The Lord comes with thousands of His holy ones to execute judgment on all and to convict them of all their ungodly acts that they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things ungodly sinners have said against Him. [Jude 14–15] JESUS OFFERS THE GIFT OF “LIVING WATERS” [NT] On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, he should come to Me and drink! The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.” He said this about the Spirit. Those who believed in Jesus were going to receive the Spirit, for the Spirit had not yet been received because Jesus had not yet been glorified. [:37–39] JESUS EQUATES “LIVING WATERS” WITH ETERNAL LIFE [NT] Jesus answered, “If you knew the gift of God, and who is saying to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would ask Him, and He would give you living water.” Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks from this water will get thirsty again. But whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty again — ever! In fact, the water I will give him will become a well of water springing up within him for eternal life.” [John 4:10,13–14] JESUS IS FORETOLD TO OFFER RIVERS OF “LIVING WATERS” [NT] Then he showed me the river of living water, sparkling like crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the broad street of the city. The tree of life was on both sides of the river, bearing 12 kinds of fruit, producing its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree are for healing the nations.” Both the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Anyone who hears should say, “Come!” And the one who is thirsty should come. Whoever desires should take the living water as a gift.” [Revelation 22:1–2,17]

------123 OT PROPHECIES OF MESSIAH HAVE BEEN QUOTED HERE IN 52 ISSUES TO DATE. ( UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, ALL SCRIPTURE IS QUOTED FROM HCSB ) ------NOTES ON PROPHECIES AND FULFILLMENTS: OT prophecies are consistently shown against the left margin, with their NT fulfillments indented immediately underneath. In order to be included, each “fulfillment” must have been described as such in the works of at least one Biblical scholar. Therefore, not every OT reference will be joined to a NT verse. (See my current References list for this series, found at bottom.) ------USAGE OF THE NAME OF GOD As I do in all my Daily and Additional Verses, whenever an OT passage contains the four-letter Name .transliteration: YHVH or YHWH), I change the translation from The LORD to Yahweh) יהוה of God I don’t do this for reasons of doctrine (or because I think my prayers won’t be heard if I don’t pronounce God’s name correctly!) – but simply because in the original Hebrew, the word is a proper name. (See Exodus 3:15 below.) And as such, I believe to read the text in a way that uses a proper name (and not a title, like Lord) conveys more accurate information. Paul told us that “All Scripture is inspired by God,” and so why wouldn’t we want to read it the way He inspired it? While it is true that the correct pronunciation of YHWH has been lost, “Yahweh” is probably our era’s most commonly used equivalent. God also said to Moses, “Say this to the Israelites: Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever; this is how I am to be remembered in every generation.” [Exodus 3:15] ------

All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

The additional verses which are below How Did All of This Get Started? the Daily Verses will only appear In In early 2017, I wrote a computer app that these emails (which are also posted on “knows” all 66 books and 1189 chapters some websites). The current series which the Bible comprises. When run, it (begun September 4, 2018) of these selects a totally random chapter in the Bible, “extra” verses codifies and examines the and keeps track of the ones that have been Old Testament prophecies of Messiah, selected. That way, I can work my way and matches them with their New through all 1189 chapters, without the app Testament fulfillment. The series begins ever giving me a duplicate. with a structured look at the earliest OT Messianic prophecies, and then examines I first used this for Bible study, and later decided that choosing one or more verses aspects of Christ’s earthly ministry (e.g., from each chapter would make a good series birth, ministry, character, death, of Facebook posts. resurrection, etc.) I began posting them on December 8, 2017, If you know of others who would like to and have been doing it daily ever since.
