The film is being directed by Michael McGowan (One Week, Saint Ralph) and will open in theatres Oct. 22. It will be shot in Toronto from Monday (Feb. 1) to March 8, according to the Georgia Straight. The Toronto Sun reports Score: A Hockey Musical will be shot in Nathan Phillips Square, Wychwood Park, the Art Gallery Of Ontario and Weston Arena. Score: A Hockey Musical will also star Olivia Newton-John of Grease fame, singer/songwriter Mark Jordan, Stephen McHattie (Watchmen, Summer's Blood), Allie MacDonald and Noah Reid. In the film, Reid plays a troubled teenager who becomes a hockey star after playing pick-up with local players played by Bidini and Workman. He then struggles with his own fame. Bidini is obsessed with hockey. Evidence of this can be seen on every Rheostatics album, his recently released The Land Is Wild debut with BidiniBand and with his Five Hole: Tales Of Hockey Erotica project.
