Start point: The car park on Harbour Road, Cruden Bay. The Veshels Points of interest Blackhill Slains Castle: Local people call Slains Castle Thiefeye Moss ‘Dracula’s Castle’. Bram Stoker was so inspired by the Castle that it formed the basis for his Bruce’s Haven Whitefields most famous novel Dracula. Bram Stoker stayed Kippet in the nearby hotel, The Kilmarnock Arms, whilst Hills Meikle Loch he wrote his novel. Early drafts of his novel had Dracula coming ashore at Cruden Bay after his Broom Hill sea voyage from Transylvania. Cruden Bay: This is an attractive village and Gallows Hill the beautiful beach, accessed via the white Cruden Bay timber footbridge is definitely worth visiting.
