Announcing the Winners of the 2013 Awards of Excellence!

Montreal, May 29, 2013 – The winners of this year’s Awards of Excellence were revealed at the gala held last night at CBC/Radio-Canada’s Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. Sean Cullen served up a spectacular, laugh-a-minute show in tribute to Canadian youth production. Joined onstage at various times by Next Step Dancers, Dudley the Dragon and Super Why, he showcased the impressive range of talent in this booming industry.

Over 250 people were on hand for this grand celebration, which honoured the country’s best television and digital content in the following 15 award categories:

Outstanding Achievement Award to Chris and Martin Kratt, founders and principals of the Company, who have created and produced over 200 episodes of television including the hit children’s television series Kratts’ Creatures, Emmy-winning preschool series Zoboomafoo, the National Geographic/CBC wildlife adventure series Be The Creature, and most recently, the Emmy nominated, PBS/TVO/Télé-Québec/Knowledge hit series in its third season, Wild Kratts.

Emerging Talent Award to Kristen McGregor, producer, researcher, and writer. She currently works as part of The Michael Cohen Group’s research team for Season III of the Nick Jr. show The Bubble Guppies, and the U.S. Department of Education’s UMIGO. Kristen is also the producer of the Canadian Screen Award-nominated TVO Kids/Sinking Ship Entertainment hit, Giver. She is the “voice” behind the Kids’ CBC Twitter account.
