The telephone rings and the parent that answers wonders why some adult woman is calling their child. When it is explained that their child is being interviewed for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah background article they are relieved and call the child to the phone. The children are then given the chance to tell their classmates all about themselves. So here it is beginning with the first of the year and continuing to the end of February.

In January, Julie Lesher kicked off the year with her Bat Mitzvah. Julie is an old timer to Rodef Shalom. She started in nursery school and still continues her education with us. Julie remembers her kindergarten year as her favorite and wanted to be sure Mrs. Saferstein and "Mr. Soop" were at her Bat Mitzvah to help her celebrate. Currently she is in seventh grade at Longfellow and enjoys talking about current events and animals. She likes to swim, play softball and go horseback riding.

Noah Carlson has been a member of Rodef Shalom for three years. He lives in Arlington and goes to Georgetown Day School where hes in the seventh grade. He remembers 14r. Abe Morris, who is currently in graduate school at George Washington University. Fifth grade was his favorite year of religious school. He said Mr. Morris made it easy to understand. He also paid compliments to Mrs. Michele Arkin-Hodges who helped him learn that Hebrew homework improved your Hebrew. Noah enjoys playing tennis and soccer.

Michael Rogers has been a member of Rodef Shalom for four years. He stated all his years were the same thus he didnt have a favorite one. His words of advice to his classmates were if you study for you Bar Mitzvah it isnt too hard. However, he said youll still be nervous but thats natural. Michael • enjoys playing soccer and writing programs for computers. Michael is in the seventh grade at Herndon intermediate School.

Jason Rubin recently ca-me to Rodef Shalom from Gainesville, Florida. He says he likes the snow here along with playing soccer. Hes trying out for a select soccer team and hopes hell make it. He like Michael, writes simple programs for computers. Jason is a seventh grader at Cooper Intermediate School.

Danny Roth, a seventh grader at Langley School, ends the celebrations on February 26, 1983. Danny started Rodef Shalcin in kindergarten and stated all the years are the same to him. Thus, he too doesnt have a favorite year. Danny like Michael and Jason is into computer prograxmiing. He also likes spots. He plays baseball for McLean Little League. He likes football and enjoys going skiing.

Mazel Toy to all of you.
